Cadillac Escala Concept, American Luxury To Compete With European Luxury
|   Wednesday, August 31, 2016
Where are the good old days when American teenagers dreamed of an illegal night race with a Cadillac Deville or a sunny drive with a Cadillac Eldorado convertible?

Nowadays, it's becoming harder and harder for the company from Detroit to face German competition, and BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi enlarge their pockets more and more overseas, under the forgiving eyes of engineers at Cadillac. But not for long.

Officially presented at the Concourse d'Elegance in Pebble Beach in California, the Escala Concept announces a new era for Cadillac.
An era that promises technological excellence and emotional design. Dimensionally positioned above the CT6 luxury sedan, having a length of 5.2 meters, the Escala Concept is a true flagship for dry land.

Equipped with 22-inch wheels and slim headlights with OLED technology, the model has a strong presence, full of personality.
The grid is a reinterpretation of identity that Cadillac has built in 114 years and the hood ridges fall in line with the flawless front side.
The stylish and plunged ceiling gives the car a sporty coupe air, but the real surprise comes from its rear. A feeling of déjà vu prevails here because the Escala Concept looks very familiar to Europeans.

The tailgate and taillights design remind us of a design used on the Opel Insignia, which can make us think of a future stylistic loan. After all, Opel is nothing but the younger cousin of Cadillac on the Old Continent.
The simplicity of the interior shows us it is only a concept, but the infotainment system that can be controlled by gestures seems very plausible for a future Cadillac.

The hood hides a massive 4.2 liter V8, which saves fuel by deactivating four cylinders selectively. Will we see a Cadillac Escala adapted to real life? For sure we will, but without many of the fireworks present with this concept.
