Cadillac Ciel - The concept redesigned for Prestige
|   Friday, September 07, 2012
Cadillac has always been one of the best brands in luxury automobiles. In fact, in some countries it is considered royalty. I once saw a swarm of Cadillac cars passing by during my visit to the Middle East, they say some prince was passing by and the cars were his security. Nevertheless the Cadillac line has always been a product of prestige, luxury and class. The Cadillac Escalade for one, has also been a popular truck in the eyes of the public.
Though it's not all that different from the Chevrolet Avalanche, it is much more luxurious with high profile features and the front grill of the Cadillac family simply screams, get out of my way, VIP coming through.

Cadillac has some interesting models in the works and one of the most exciting and breathtaking was the revealing of the concept car of the new Cadillac Ciel. The Cadillac Ciel was released last year at Pebble beach and the car received tremendous response. Of course where there are lovers, there are also criticizers and most of them complained on the car being too sporty and not enough of sedan, instead they saw the shape to have more of a coupe concept.

Some of them also disliked the fact that the Cadillac Ciel was a convertible. It didn't seem to do justice to the look or the brand and demanded that the car be re-imagined with a hard top. The concept model also came with slim vertical LED headlights just like the kind you find in most Cadillac cars.

However, there has been news that the Cadillac Ciel has be re-imagined and some major changes have been made to the car's look in response to the criticism and response from the car enthusiasts. For starters they seem to agree with the Ciel not having a hard top. The new design seems to give the Cadillac CIel a hardtop and the end look once again seems to give the Ciel a sporty coupe look rather than a luxurious sedan. Maybe that is what the company is going for. Their cars never seem to appeal to the young crowd, at least the sedans.

Other changes to the concept also include the change in headlights. Instead of the vertical LEDs, the new design may include the headlights using dot friendly lighting. The fog lights maybe wider in the final model to compensate for the slimmer headlights. That's not all, the doors also seem to integrate the LED lighting concept just like in the XTS. The handle will lit up on the plain black doors, which will give the car an overall attractive appeal.

Coming to the engine, the Cadillac Ciel will feature a 3.6 liter V-6 engine. The engine will power the rear wheels and will be supported by an electric motor. If nothing is changed here the turbocharged engine should give out 425HP minimum with a 430 pound feet torque. We may have to waited for the showroom ready sedan to confirm other specifications of the car, can't wait to see all of the goodies.
