Buick To Launch The Next LaCrosse Generation
|   Wednesday, December 30, 2015
First, start by covering the Buick emblem. What is left? An Opel…

Many technologies implemented on Buick models, even whole models such as the Cascada and Insignia (Buick Regal), are taken directly from Opel, the German company being a kind of "cash cow" for General Motors. The new Buick LaCrosse generation which recently debuted at the Auto Show in Los Angeles is a product inspired by Opel, both stylistically and technically.

The silhouette of the new LaCrosse is more elongated and elegant compared to its predecessor; it is obtained by reducing the height by 40 mm, a 15 mm elongation and increasing the wheelbase by 65 mm.

The new American sedan adapted a new design language characterized by flowing lines and a grille that houses the "winged" logo.
The optical blocks possess LED strips, which also remind us of Opel. The standard version is equipped with 18 inch wheels with the 20 inch rims being optional.
The interior is very luxurious, with wood inserts and aerated center console, on which the new shifter for the automatic gearbox was positioned. Here you can see "quotations" from Opel too, like the semi-digital dashboard that is directly borrowed from the Opel Insignia, the control buttons on the steering wheel and multimedia system IntelliLink, with an 8 inch display and Apple CarPlay and Auto Android compatibility. Among the innovative technologies we can mention induction charger for smartphones, and the system that detects young drivers at the steering wheel, creating safer driving conditions for them by reducing the audio system sound and warning when exceeding the speed limit.

If young drivers will neglect the speed limits, the system will alert their parents about this! So, the new Buick LaCrosse really turns into a snitch.
The new Buick LaCrosse is built on a new platform, HiPer Strut, with the front suspension taken from Opel and a new multilink rear suspension. Top versions are the Touring and Sport, and receive Continuous Damping Control adaptive suspension. The new platform helped the model to lose 62 kilograms compared to its predecessor.
The rear suspension is new, just like the wheel drive system, Twin-Clutch All-Wheel-Drive. To correct split torque between the rear wheels, two clutches which are controlled independently are used. The previous generation used an electronic differential.

Under the bonnet of the new LaCrosse we have the naturally aspirated V6 new gasoline engine with a displacement of 3.6 liters, which features direct injection, a system for deactivating three of them from the six cylinders, and start / stop system. The engine develops 305 hp and 363 Nm of torque coupled to the automatic 8-speed transmission and all-wheel drive optional.

From the list of available equipment we have a Bose audio system, dual zone climate control system, 18 or 20 inch wheels, active elements that contribute to the vehicle's aerodynamics installed in the radiator grille, a set of electronic assistance and safety systems (warning system in case of a collision, monitoring traffic and markings, and two cameras installed at the rear).

Prices for the new model have not been announced, but the previous model costs 31,065 dollars. The new Buick LaCrosse generation will be launched on the North American market in early summer 2016.
