BMW Takes Designing and Engineering To a New Height with The X6
|   Sunday, February 17, 2013
BMW plans on introducing a new X6 in its lineup within the next 18 months and this vehicle is expected to feature the all wheel drive technology and will be in direct response to SUVs developed by Land Rover, Audi and Mercedes Benz. The X6 is a direct cousin to the BMW X5 and has been designed keeping in mind various technological innovations.

The German car makers are keen on launching a range of new models in the SUV segment and as a result the X6 has been added to enlarge the current lineup to two vehicles to four by 2016.
The focus is on developing smaller and more affordable SUVs such as the X2 and the X4 and BMW has launched the higher placed X6 to bring variation to the segment.

The X6 is expected to pose as an aggressive ride and is designed keeping in mind the Russian, North American and Chinese market. The X6 shares a host of diverse reviews from all sections of vehicle lovers and the vehicle looks gullible from all angles. The overall bent look at the front of the vehicle has been carried to the rear section as well and this gives the vehicle a uniform look.

The large head lamps further enhance the visual impact of the X6 and the split frontal air intakes also make the vehicle look wider than it really is. The vehicle is 1985 mm long and 50 mm wider than the BMW X5 and this is the widest car that can fit into a regular car wash. The chrome grille also looks good on the vehicle and although certain sections of the society feel that the visual changes are an exaggeration, people still love the vehicle.

The X6 features a considerably flat underbody and the diffuser has not been placed at the rear. The wheel arches remain protruded and the horizontal lines enhance the appeal. The X6 features an authentic Coupe like design and the vehicle is bent towards the rear hence enhancing the overall appeal of the design.

On the interior, the X6 resembles the X5 to quite an extent. In fact the interior looks like that of a larger X5. Starting from the seats, center console to the dash board, there is nothing new on offer and people have seen the same settings on the X5. The differences lie in the fact that the interior has quite an amount of space and the gear lever is sportier than before.

The BMW X6 is powered by a six cylinder, twin turbo charged diesel engine and this is produces sufficient power to propel the vehicle. The engine displaces close to 301 BHP and 443 ft lb of torque, the X6 claims to reach 0 – 60 MPH in 6.5 seconds flat. Mated to a six speed automatic transmission system, the BMW X6 shifts clean and produce optimum power per gear. The power to weight ratio on the X6 is quite enhanced and this makes the X6 one of the most powerful ride in its segment.
