BMW Showcases the 320d GT at the Geneva Motor Show

BMW has been adding a new vehicle to its already celebrated 3 Series and this vehicle is packed in extra cabin and boot space. The BMW 320d GT is ready for sale and is perfect for customers who need more space in a vehicle than a 5 Series Saloon or the 3 Series Touring. The 320d GT may not be the best looking BMW on the road today; however it is quite a sporty five door coupe.

This car may not look like a GT but numerous hours and hard work has gone into designing the body work on the 320d.
The vehicle is quite agile and this can be attributed to the smart designing move made by the designing team. The overall ride quality may seem to be a bit bumpy as compared to other saloons but the 320d GT features the optimum modifications possible for a vehicle to hold.

The vehicle could be a little jumpy around corners or over bumps and the generally long chassis takes full responsibility for this. The 320d GT is powered by a 2.0 liter diesel engine featuring rear wheel drive while BMW has turned this vehicle for optimum mileage. The gear ratio is also well placed and this translates to smooth performance over tarmac.

The weight ratio is very near the 50:50 marks and this enhances the overall balance of the vehicle. Power to weight ratio may not be the best in class but the dynamic shifts overrun the shortfalls of the power to weight ratio. BMW needs to replace its 2.0 liter diesel engines as it is an old and tired motor. The torque curve is however well distributed while the engine is generally smooth.

The vehicle has all the important qualities present in a GT and is comfortable enough to be a cruiser. The engine is well placed and works well without much panache. The transmission is more responsive than expected and works well with the diesel engine. The Eco Mode saves fuel while keeping the rev low. This delivers power based on the requirement of the terrain, hence saving fuel.

The interior is completely overhauled and the designers have toiled in designing the cabin structure of the vehicle. The GT body style is priced at £1300 above the 320d and this is a premium package when it comes to just an external kit. BMW is also offering an M Sports package which works towards enhancing the visual aesthetics of the vehicle. Priced at £31,310, the BMW 320d GT is a car worth the money considering the GT tag and the amount of boot space.

BMW claims that the 320d GT is capable of reaching a top speed of 140 MPH and acceleration from 0 – 60 MPH is possible in 7.9 seconds. Company claimed fuel efficiency is 57.6 MPG while the 1995cc four cylinder turbo diesel engines displace 182 BHP @ 4000 RPM along with 280 ft lb of torque. The engine is mated to an eight speed automatic transmission system enhancing power delivery.
