BMW reveals the M4 Concept set to be unveiled post 2014
|   Thursday, January 31, 2013
BMW plans on overhauling the current M4 and re-launching the model by spring 2014. A conceptual form of the M4 has been designed with the help of photoshop and the vehicle has been designed keeping in mind the aspects of the BMW 4 Series Coupe that was recently showcased at the Detroit Auto Show in 2013. If BMW plans on continuing with its policy of designing future vehicles in line with the current 4 Series, the M4 could resemble the designing to some extent.

The front bumper is quite aggravated and the grille and front end along with the head lamps resemble the M6 and 1M models. An additional carbon fiber rooftop keeps weight in check and the side panels have been enhanced to give the vehicle a muscular appeal. Aesthetic wise, the M4 concept is quite aggressive and agile and BMW could install side skirts on this vehicle to increase its sports appeal as well as improve aerodynamics.

The air vents used on the vehicles are larger than the ones present on the current models and the M4 concept is a road focused version of the current model of the vehicle. The M4 concept also features an undulation on the hood which is quite close to the current M3 models. Although the specifications of the M4 Concept have not been revealed as of yet, it is expected to better the performance of the current model.

The performance boost will be made possible due to the reduction in weight by use of advanced weight reducing materials such as aluminum and carbon fiber wherever required. The engine is expected to be mated to a seven speed automatic transmission system although BMW is expected to install an optional manual transmission system as well for the driving enthusiasts.

The M4 is aimed at the US market and hence the safety and performance measures have been aimed at the customers. BMW is planning on rolling out a five door version of the M4 apart from the three door version and a Gran Coupe based on the current platform is also expected to roll out by 2015. The power to weight ratio and center of gravity of the vehicles has been enhanced and these are set to improve the performance of the vehicles by a considerable margin.

Expected power displacement of the engine is 316 BHP and the 3.0 liter petrol power house could churn out the optimum power required if needed. BMW is also looking forward to developing the 1 and 3 Series Gran Coupe if the 4 Series work out as planned. The company has a lot of plans and designs laid out extensively although implementation is far from complete.

Use of a four cylindered engine is the best way for getting the optimum power while saving up on fuel costs and CO2 emission. The advanced technical and mechanical settings on the M4 concept are revolutionary and if implemented, could change the face of BMW in the future. However, the launch date is still some time away and more breathtaking revelations are expected off BMW in the meantime.
