BMW reveals the details of the Active Cruiser Concept
|   Tuesday, September 18, 2012
The latest designs of the all new BMW Active Cruiser Concept have been released and this car plans to combine the sporty performance, diverse functionalities and adverse styling all into a single unit.

The Active Cruiser Concept is the first in a series of next generation concept vehicles and BMW has kept fans in the dark about showcasing this vehicle at the Paris International Motor Show 2012.

An annual growth rate of 5 percent is expected to hit the small car segment by next year and BMW is all set to catch this drift.
The Active Cruiser Concept is being developed at this stage solely for this purpose.

The car is a hybrid and is based on BMW's vision of the vehicles of tomorrow. BMW's eDrive Technology has been used in this vehicle and this is the first time that the advanced technology is being used in a full time commercial vehicle.

The Active Cruiser Concept runs on a lithium ion cell based electric motor apart from the conventional BMW 1.5 liter turbo charged, 6 cylindered multi awards winning and VALVETRONIC enabled petrol engine.

The new engine has three valves and is the first in the series of innovative engine from BMW. This compact engine is fuel efficient, dynamic and performs like a sports sedan. The engine is amazingly smooth and the refined motor enables a comfortable, elegant ride with occasional bursts of power right when the driver needs it.

The low engine speed range enables better control over the vehicle and high fuel efficiency. The vehicle can run for close to 30 km solely on the electric motor, which can be charged at any household 220 V plug point.
The car has a wheelbase of 4,350 mm and is one of the longest hatch backs in its class. The comfort level of the vehicle is amazing and its performance orientation makes it perfect for the race track. The stiff suspension system helps the car tackle sharp corners and the vehicle feels extremely smooth to drive and stable at corners.

Advanced luxury features like the LED daytime running lights, GPS, Bluetooth, WI-FI and USB connectivity gives the Active Cruiser Concept an edge over the other vehicles the same league and the smart phone connectivity is another great feature on the vehicle.

Comfort is the primary thing of concern in a BMW and the Active Cruiser Concept is no different. The designers have paid special attention to the rear seat comfort and raised the rear roof by a slight margin. Hence, this increases the head and leg room and makes for a comfortable ride even for people who are more than 6 feet.

The instrument cluster on this vehicle is neat and this means it can be easily read. The car has a 10.15 inch screen which can be connected to the GPS or the smart phones for advanced control. Overall, this seems to be a promising proposition for BMW and people are looking forward to viewing this vehicle at the Paris International Motor Show 2012, if and only BMW approves.
