|   Saturday, July 27, 2013
BMW has recently unveiled the face lifted 530d and this is a smart move made by the premium segment German car maker intended to give the vehicle a better chance at the global market. The definition of premium segment executive sedans has changed ever since new competition from the Maserati Ghibli and the Mercedes Benz E Class has surfaced. BMW is however in no mood to fall back and this major face lift is the major proof.
Although the modifications made by BMW on the range of vehicles are minor, they make a huge impact on the segment.
The front and rear bumpers have been modified while the rear lamps have a new design. 18 inch chromed rims have been installed while the door handles and mirrors are completely new. Aerodynamic changes have been made to the car and although subtle, they still do make an impact.

The latest 530d does not sport new mechanical components and the engine block from the old version has been kept. The 3.0 liter diesel engine powering the 530d is mated to a seven speed automatic transmission system. Average fuel efficiency of 55.4 MPG is attained on the ride while 17 inch alloyed rims are available as standard.

The suspension has been reworked and this enhances the comfort level as well as the handling of the vehicle. BMW however plans on introducing two new engines to the lineup although a confirmed launch date is yet to be announced. The BMW 518d is also on the cards for a modification. The range topping upgrade has however been made on the M5 and this vehicle gets a 4.4 liter engine and has been rebadged as the 550i.

Body roll is minimized and the interior feels completely reworked. BMW has further refined their already refined range of engines and the 530d feels like an all new vehicle owing to the changes. A range of electronics have been added to the car such as satellite navigation, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, track pad and the revolutionary BMW iDrive infotainment system.

An advanced Traffic Jam Assist can control the car automatically in traffic at speeds up to 25 MPH. This is a whole new technology which is currently brewing. Although it is safe for practical use, BMW is trying to modify this technology for use in the future for a vast range. He 530d was one of the best selling executive sedans from BMW and the new range of modifications is sure to take this experience to a whole new level.

BMW is yet to unveil a launch date for the new 530d although it is expected to be available at showrooms post the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. BMW has a range of vehicles up for launch and this is the best time to make the announcements. However, the icing on the cake is the latest M5 which is the most highly anticipated vehicle at the moment. BMW will not be disappointing and fans sure are waiting patiently for the car to be formally introduced to the lineup.
