BMW Planning To Release BMW I9 to Celebrate Its Centenary
|   Tuesday, October 14, 2014
BMW, a Bavaria based automobile company is coming close to completing 100 glorious years in the automobile industry on 7th of March 2016. This German based automaker has been one of the leaders in the field of engine manufacturing, automobile and motorcycles. To make a grand celebration of their centenary anniversary BMW are planning on creating a hybrid Supercar.

Speculations are that this electric powered, hybrid car is going to be named BMW i9.
This will be a more improved version of i8 model of BMW. Car enthusiasts believe that this model will be much more powerful as well as faster than BMW i8.

Apart from BMW i9, this company is also planning to release an extended wheelbase i3, i8 Spyder and i5 Sedan models. These cars will add to the portfolio of the "i" series joining i3 hatchback and soon to be released i5 minivan.

Sources suggest that t i9 will use similar technology as used in i8 with added improvements. BMW i9 will use the same carbon fibre for its tub. Unlike i8 it will not be using a three cylinder engine. Instead it will utilise an inline six speed engine which is similar to the technology in 7 series sedan.

BMW i9 will feature a state of art electric motor which will be more powerful than any of its predecessors. The engine is supposed to create a power output of about 500 horsepower. The body of i9 model is supposed to be made with the highest quality lightweight materials.

BMW are planning to make i9 faster than i8. To achieve this i9 will have more powerful powertrain than any other model. i9 is supposed to reach a speed of 62 miles per hour in a flat 4.4 seconds and can reach a top speed of 155 miles per hour.

Despite the i9 being lighter than the i8, it is supposed to be more durable as the material used is more superior. The i9 will depend on electric power when it is covering short distances similar to the strategy used in i8. The only difference in this model is that it will have a better mileage due to its lighter weight. Thanks to its lightweight the car is expected to be one of the fastest cars available in the future market.

There are various speculations on the looks of the i9 out in the market. Some believe that the exterior of BMW i9 is going to be based on the futuristic deign of i8 and that it will have more aggressive styling when you compare it to the i8 model.

Again some other believes that BMW will take inspiration from its legendary M1 model which was introduced in 1978. As the company is closing in on its 100 years anniversary some believe that this would be more appropriate as M1 has been one of BMW's most successful models in its early years. If it is based on M1 then it could have more aggressive Retro styled look to suit the modern taste of people.
