BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100 Depict The Future Of Flexible Motorcycles
|   Tuesday, November 01, 2016
After having revealed the BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce concepts which demonstrate their vision for the next 100 years, the Bavarians launch a vision of the future in the world of motorcycles too - the BMW Motorrad VISION NEXT 100.

BMW Motorrad Vision Nest 100 is the latest incarnation of the BMW Vision Nest series, which celebrates 100 years of activity for the German company. BMW has used the slogan “efficient dynamics” for a few years now and designers have followed that idea in this case too, focusing on dynamics when they created the motorcycle concept.

Overall, it moves like a conventional bike, but the framework and power can be reconfigured depending on the travel conditions.
At this California event held in a hangar the motorcycle has been exposed besides other concept cars shown earlier. BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100 is the fourth and last concept that they introduced and has an unconventional design. We say this because at every turn it change shape due to its unusual framework. In addition, the tires are designed with a special material so that they can replace the suspension.

Being revealed in Los Angeles at the exhibition “Iconic Impulses. The BMW Group Future Experience “ the BMW Motorrad VISION NEXT 100 represents the future of motorcycles. This model is inspired from classic BMW forms such as the triangular frame of the R32 iconic model from 1923, the camouflaged cardan shaft and boxer engine.

However, the latter is replaced by electric propulsion, while the cylinder head placed on both sides stands out when the bike is on and hides when it is parked. The motorcycle itself hints at motorcycles from the “TRON: Legacy” movie where the structure of the bike seems to be homogenous, consisting of a single piece.
The frame is made of carbon fiber coated with a special material. Pieces of this material may be observed in transparent wings, and central “backbone”. When cornering, the framework flexes in the desired direction, adjusting the angle depending on the speed. The logo placed on both sides is illuminated during the night.

It seems that the age of digitalization will hold true for motorcycles too, which will be led through simplified controls and more functions, such as enabling the direction indicators that can be activated through gestures. The helmet will be replaced with “the Visor”, a pair of glasses which display all necessary information, including images from the rearview camera. Also, they have designed a special suit, which has heating and cooling function, depending on the wishes of the driver.
Why have they replaced the helmet though?! The Bavarians consider such motorcycles would exclude the risk of falling, thanks to the self-balancing gyroscope and warnings which will guide the motorcyclist to take curves at an appropriate angle and with a certain speed.

The self-balancing system allows the motorcycle to stand in an upright position without any support. However, this will be possible in an ideal world, without accidents with autonomous vehicles, that will communicate one each other and will not allow a motorcyclist to go full speed into a car, for in a such case the self-balancing system would be pretty useless...
