BMW M5 Competition Package Proves its Worth Both on Road and Around the Track
|   Tuesday, July 23, 2013
The BMW M5 Competition Package is one of the fastest Bimmer on road today. The Competition Package is specified to be just as powerful as the M6 and is one of the strongest and most powerful vehicles from BMW on road today. The Competition Package has a range of options installed in it, which makes it an important addition in the lineup.

While the general power output has been increased by 15 BHP, the engine displaces a total of 567 BHP. Peak torque however remains unchanged and is available with a wide variety of engine speeds.
However, the M5 Competition Package accelerates from 0 – 60 MPH within 4.2 seconds, which is quicker than the standard car by 0.1 seconds. Top speed is however expected to remain unchanged at 155 MPH, even though this has not been confirmed.

The huge change made to the chassis is the breaking point of the Competition Package. Torsion rigidity has been increased by 20 percent while the anti roll bars are 15 percent stiffer than they are on the standard M5. The ride height has been lowered by 10 mm while the Active M Differential enhances the general handling ability of the car. The ESP M Dynamic mode offers a greater slip angle which makes the vehicle stiffer around corners by close to 10 percent.

The exhaust note is quite loud and this increases as the car is pushed hard. The deep bass actually pushes the driver to drive hard and the slew of advanced electronic measures help the driver remain in control even at high speeds. The body balance is near perfect while this car sports 20 inch alloyed rims which enhance the way the car sits on road.

The combination of black gold chromed pipes along with the gold brake calipers look good on the M5 Competition Package while the use of carbon ceramic disc brakes along with the light weight engine, keeps the weight of the car in check. People hardly get the chance to criticize the M5 and the Competition Package has further upped the style quotient of the vehicle. It is therefore impractical to find faults with this machine.

This is a true BMW and the engine revs smoothly near the 5000 RPM range. 7200 RPM is the red line for the machine although it can be pushed a little more above this limit. This car has been designed to take daily commuters on their jobs while it feels perfectly at home in the stiff corners as well. The carbon fiber and plastic parts on the car do not feel cheap while reducing the general weight of the car and this is truly the vehicle which speed buffs would like to own.

BMW is offering a wide range of customization options on the M5 Competition Package although the range of modifications is yet to be affirmed. Overall, this is a perfect sports car and there are no better options in the market at the moment when it comes to overall quality and practicality.
