BMW Invests In Parkmobile Parking Services
|   Thursday, January 22, 2015
BMW is expanding its "I" range coverage on innovative mobility services via an investment in the parking provider Parkmobile International Holding. With approximately 10 million customers in over 600 cities worldwide, Parkmobile is the main global provider of mobile payment solutions on-demand for public street parking.

This partnership will significantly expand the BMW i premium parking service (ParkNow) which focuses on offering customers a friendly way of urban search and reservation of parking places completed with cashless payment options.
In the future, users in the US will be able to use the website or the ParkNow smartphone application to access approximately 2.7 million parking spaces in the garage or on the street, located in hundreds of cities.

This last step means that ParkNow is the first network that offers to its customers friendly solutions for parking garage or on the street.
"With this new investment we are taking the next step on the way to making ParkNow the world's leading premium parking service. The expansion of the ParkNow network is a further example of how BMW i is continuously growing and strengthening its state-of-the-art mobility services", said Joachim Hauser, Vice President Business Development BMW Mobility Services.

Also, these services include a car-sharing program called Drive-Now which is currently available in seven cities in Europe and in San Francisco.
In the near future, ParkNow intends to offer services on the markets in Europe too. The approach is part of an important development direction for the BMW Group, supported by BMW i Ventures investment fund that seeks to extend mobility services in three main ways: for BMW Group owners and users (like BMW Financial Services or the Drive-Now car sharing program), for all drivers, regardless of the brand they use (ParkatmyHouse.com), or general mobility solutions (Life360 or MyCityWay). ParkNow is such a service that is open to all drivers, regardless of the brand they use.

ParkNow is a useful and user-friendly solution for street parking. Prior to leaving the car, the driver can enter the number of the parking area selected in the app, or simply have the navigation system start the parking session. The payment is automatically made.

As a bonus, before the parking time runs out, customers are informed by a signal on their mobile phones. They can thus extend parking time without returning to the car, provided the parking time has not yet expired. The extra time is once again billed automatically.

Furthermore, ParkNow can be also used to search and reserve a parking space, which is very convenient and for an EV.
In the near future, as new facilities evolve, you will also be able to reserve parking on the road via the navigation system. ParkNow already allows users to upload parking location details straight into the navigation system, while an electronic ticket gives access to the reserved location upon arrival.

The investment in Parkmobile will allow BMW to continue expanding the footprint of its "one-stop" ParkNow service. This is an on-demand, flexible solution that allows users to search and reserve garage or street parking, with no cash payments required.
