BMW I series news from the horse\'s mouth

BMW has excelled over the years as a car manufacturing brand. At the auto show held in LA this year, the head of design for BMW, Benoit Jacob was interviewed on the occasion of the release of the BMW I series. He mainly talked about the I series and different features of the I series. It was an enriching experience for everyone to hear about the series from one of the most influential and eminent officials of the brand. Some of the views and expressions that Benoit Jacob used in his replies to the question asked were quite interesting to note.

Benoit Jacobs was in charge of the design of the I series from the year 2008. Since then he has been working hard on every aspect of the car model to help it improve in every way and for it to be launched without any flaws.

When asked if the I series is going to be another name on the list of premium cars, Benoit replied in the affirmative. He said that the I series is going to be a part of the club of premium cars but in its own way. He said that the car is not about giving more, but it is about giving the best. More is not always better; sometimes it may become a little bit crowded. It should be more about the effectiveness rather than the more aspect of the car. The I series aims at redefining premium to something that is effective, efficient and up to date and not all focussed on leather seats and climate control.

The show car at the auto show was quite close to the production car, according to Benoit Jacob. He said that the show car was designed keeping in mind 2 messages. One of them will be a coupe version, which should be available by this time the coming year. There is a lot of anticipation for this car model. There have been some modifications in the looks of the car, which are quite different from any normal car. The changes may look to be limited to the looks only, but the effect the comfort and performance of the car in a big way. The other version might be a four door.

It has been seen that the design of such a car takes up to 7 years also. Benoit seems to be very proud of the fact that they have completed the design of the i3 and the i8 in five years, since taking charge of the design of the I series in 2008. He also added that the production of the show car and the production car parallel has benefitted their cause largely.

The design of the BMW i series is quite impressive. Every element of the car is worthy of being iconic. The car has many unique features that are not available, at least in this combination, in any other car model. As per Benoit Jacobs it is just the surface of the knowledge about the car that has been scratched, and much more lies underneath.
