CO2 emissions are 78-77 g / km (data according to the EU test cycle for plug-in hybrid car and can vary depending on the tire size chosen).

Using BMW's eDrive technology for exceptional efficiency, as well as mobility for electric-only regime presents the new form for superior a driving experience, at least for a Sports Activity Vehicle model.

The BMW X5 xDrive40e benefits from the technology and knowledge obtained from the BMW I range.
The BMW i8 leads the way for this segment, and now the pleasure of driving a plug-in hybrid can be experienced for the first time on a model of the main BMW brand.
The energy for the electric motor integrated into the eight-speed Steptronic transmission comes from a lithium-ion battery, which - via a voltage transformer - provides the power for a low voltage 12V electric system on board the BMW X5 xDrive40e.

Powered by a regular outlet, charging time is 3 hours and 50 minutes. Recharging the battery can be done by connecting to any domestic source of energy or a BMW i Wallbox and public charging stations. In the context in which the system used is the BMW i Wallbox, the charging time is decreased to 2 hours and 45 minutes.

To save space the high-voltage battery is located under the trunk floor, where it is well protected in case of an accident. With a cargo capacity ranging from 500 liters to 1,720 liters with the backrest folded (it can fold into three parts), an interior that benefits from a luxurious design, the BMW X5 xDrive40e enjoys the high versatility of a Sports Activity Vehicle combined with an exclusivist interior.
