BMW 435i is Quite a Deal Prior to the Arrival of the M4
|   Monday, August 05, 2013
BMW 435i is the nearest relative of the M4 which will be making its official debut by the end of 2014. Therefore, if you want to go for the M4 but cannot wait for almost a year, the 435i should do justice to your expectations. The 435i is powered by a Twin Power six cylindered engine, the only one in the lineup actually as both the 420d and the 428i are powered by four cylindered engines.

The best part about the six-cylindered engine is that it displaces close to 295 ft lb of torque close to the 1200 – 5000 RPM mark.
With the engine mated to an eight speed automatic transmission, the 435i is capable of accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH within 5.1 seconds. The 435 xDrive is however quicker by 0.3 seconds and is the only vehicle in the current lineup to be quicker than the 435i.

The 435i has a top speed of 155 MPH although a six speed manual transmission system will not be available, as initially estimated. The base dimensions of the vehicle have increased while the height has been lowered. This gives the 435i a well balanced chassis along with a more focuses center of gravity. Torsion rigidity has been enhanced while the car is 60 percent stiffer than any other vehicle in its lineup.

Despite the similarities between the BMW 3 and 4 Series vehicles, the company wants to differentiate between the rides. Styling is hence a major criterion. The wheel arches on the 435i is visibly larger and wider than any of the other cars in its range and this is the largest on any middle ranged coupe at the moment.

The interior also shares some of the general trim and upholstery with the 3 Series and even here BMW has tried hard to give the 4 Series its own identity. The general color of the interior has been changed along with that of the dash board. However, the interior is bound to remind you of that of the 3 Series. Even though this is not a major downside, BMW has failed to impress.

The rear chair has been sculpted to give out two separate seats, complete with individual arm rests and head rests. This is similar to the arrangement made inside the 6 Series. The BMW 4 Series is however similar to the 3 Series in terms of balance, ride comfort, reliability and efficiency. These vehicles are part of a dedicated lineup which needs no introduction. The twin turbo charged 3.0 liter six-cylindered engine block is one of the most powerful in class and the BMW 435i can use all the power that it can get quite efficiently.

The 435i is a very capable and extremely efficient machine and without the M4 in sight for almost a year, this is the perfect replacement for the moment. Priced at £40,795, it is also quite affordable while the long time low maintenance costs are an added advantage. BMW claims fuel economy of 39.2 MPG.
