BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe to be Launched Next Month
|   Monday, January 06, 2014
BMW plans on adding a new member to its already celebrated 4 Series lineup and the newest member of this family is a four door Gran Coupe. Set to be officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next month, the Gran Coupe will complement BMW's 4 Series Convertible and Coupe. Even though all these vehicles have a similar exterior appeal, subtle changes are always made to these cars.

BMW's latest 4 Series vehicles, have an unmistakable similarity to its 3 Series cousins and this has been carried forward to the Gran Coupe as well.
Basically, both vehicles share a similar chassis while minor modifications have been made to fit in their body style. Frameless doors and beefed up B Pillars are common aspects of all these vehicles while structural stability have been provided.

Measuring 4640 x 1825 x 1370 mm (length x breadth x height), the 4 Series Gran Coupe features similar dimensions as its 3 Series predecessor. This vehicle however rides taller, which is due to a lift in its suspension. Strengthening its chassis and body panels has enhanced the endurance capacity of this vehicle, even though the overall weight has been increased by 100 kg. The heavily curved roofline helps distinguish this vehicle while its heavily raked wind screen and rear window have been lifted off previous models.

Boot capacity of this vehicle is 480 liters, which is similar to its 3 Series counterpart. Engine options will be similar to the Coupe and hence, expect four and six cylindered engines to be available once they are available across showrooms. Even though detailed specifications are yet to be announced, we do not expect major modifications to be made to this vehicle.

Rear wheel drive is available as standard while all wheel drive is still optional. Even though final pricing is not available as yet, there should be a hike in about £5000. Interior details are yet to be announced and we will get back to you with a complete feedback and review only after BMW officially launches this vehicle next month. Till then, stay tuned for live action and drive test reviews.
