Bentley Reveal Limited Edition Continental GT3-R at Good Wood
|   Friday, July 04, 2014
Bentley has revealed their latest GT3-R at the Good Wood Festival of Speed this week. The vehicle, which is being hailed as the quickest production line Bentley and most ergonomic street car, could very well change the face of British engineering and vehicle manufacturing, if it lives up to this reputation. Bentley plans on manufacturing 300 units of this vehicle, which insiders claim has been inspired directly from its track prepped variant.

While final pricing is yet to be announced, we have news that this car will be available at dealerships by the end of 2014.
Pre booking had commenced earlier this week and if you are enthusiastic about owning one model, be sure to book at the earliest, as you might just run out of luck. The Continental GT3-R is powered by a twin turbocharged 4.0 liter V8 powerhouse, displacing 527 BHP, along with 516 ft lb of torque at just 1,700 RPM.

Sheer power at this rev range provides and awesome experience. The GT3-R is also 100 kg less than the standard GT V8 S, which calls for the perfect power to weight ratio in class. Bentley is currently looking at weight saving measures, as it is an integral part of performance vehicles. The engine is mated to a ZF automated eight speed gear box, sporting shorter ratios than the conventional Continental GT.

Expected performance figures on this vehicle includes acceleration from 0 – 60 MPH within 3.6 seconds, along with higher top speeds that is currently being withheld. The unique exhaust system on this vehicle is composed entirely of titanium, saving weight by 7 kg. Bentley has also worked on engine note this time around, which enables this vehicle to sport a uniquely balanced "baritone growl."

A host of electronic driver aides enhance power distribution and handling, while a few such measures include Electronic Stability Control, Torque Vectoring System and all wheel drive train. Heat monitoring is constantly carried out, while power distribution is well balanced and controlled at all times. This prevents wheel spin, wheel lock, body roll and a host of other major problems that are a reason for concern.

This vehicle bends in a sharper angle than most other vehicles would, under such circumstances due to this technology, helping drivers control the car at high speeds around bends, while reducing under steer by aggressive amounts. This is not a mid engine vehicle like most other competitors in range, while the engine has been mounted in front of the front axle, providing a unique weight distribution capability.

Some basic suspension upgrades have been done too, including a front air ride suspension, along with major upgrades to its dampers and springs. 21 inch alloyed rims are in place, highlighting this vehicle's exterior aesthetic appeal, along with larger disc brakes, offering optimum safety. While 420 mm disc plates are used on its front wheel, rear 360 mm plates are in place. Bentley wanted to push up this vehicle's ergonomics a notch higher and they have done precisely so, on their Continental GT3-R.
