Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept Announces Future Two-Seat Production Model
|   Thursday, March 19, 2015
The concept which prefigures the line that most likely will follow the future Bentley coupe is one of the most spectacular novelties presented at Geneva: the EXP 10 Speed 6 has only two seats, unlike the 2 + 2-seater coupe with which we have been accustomed to for some time.

The Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept was one of the surprises of the Geneva Motor Show. With this concept, the British manufacturer announces its intention to create a sports car with two seats dedicated to customers who want a really sporty Bentley car.
With this new model, Bentley will compete with Aston Martin, Ferrari, and McLaren.

The series car will be launched in maximum three years and will cost about 120,000 pounds (about 166,400 euro / 180,400 dollars). The two-seat configuration, plus the trunk, dedicated exclusive handbags, or the pair of golf bags will be preserved. This model, together with the announced and controversial Bentayga SUV, should contribute to achieving the objective of the brand of selling 20,000 units annually by the end of this decade.

Although there is not yet an official confirmation, the series model could be built on the new flexible MSB platform of the VAG group that is dedicated exclusively to sports or luxury cars positioned above the Audi range.

The British from Bentley were not too generous in terms of the technical details of the concept. All that is known is that the EXP 10 Speed 6 uses a hybrid powertrain. The series model will be offered with a reconfigured version of the 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine of Audi origin. Thus, the maximum power of the engine will pass the psychological threshold of 500 hp, and top speed will pass the threshold of 300 km/hour. The engraftment of the current W12 engine, now under the hood of the Continental GT, may be abandoned for reasons of weight.

The design however is simply fabulous, a perfect mix between the Italian design school and the British one. Compact, suave and athletic, the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept seduces with its forms inspired by aircraft fuselages, proportions emphasized by the contrast between the short front and rear overhangs, long hood and prominent shoulders of the car.

The Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept brings an interesting premiere in terms of manufacturing processes. The honeycomb grille, chrome exhaust, side air vents and door handles were made using 3D printing technology. The same solution was applied to the interior, especially for the fine wood finishing elements with a unique pattern that mimics the silhouette of diamonds. A 12-inch curved touch screen also announces a revolution in the multimedia interface, which is found on board of the Bentley models.

"It is one vision for Bentley's future. It has the potential to be the pinnacle luxury two-seat sports car. This is not just a new sports car concept but the potential Bentley sports car — a bold vision for a brand with a bold future. It offers thrilling, driver-oriented performance, complete with trademark modern Bentley luxury and effortlessness" stated Wolfgang Dürheimer, company chairman.
