Bentley Bentayga: The First SUV From The British Luxury Carmaker
|   Sunday, January 25, 2015
On the occasion of the 2015 Detroit Motor Show, Bentley has released the name of the brand's new SUV, which will officially launch later this year.
Until now, Bentley has shown to the world an SUV in a concept form, but later it was also revealed hidden in various clips and spy shots. But now we know the official name. After Jaguar officials announced they are going to launch an exciting SUV that will be called F-Pace, the Bentley was forced to a reaction.
This is how Bentley is going to deliver on the market its first SUV ever made in mass production.

If in the past Bentley played with a single original 4x4 special car for sheiks of the United Arab Emirates, now they have a sport-utility vehicle that will be available to everyone. Well, anyone with enough money.

In a press release, Bentley said plainly that its new SUV name, in its series version, will be called Bentayga. Besides the exotic name, the English have not revealed any more details.

Wolfgang Duerheimer, CEO of Bentley, said in a press conference that the name has three sources of inspiration: the Taiga, "the world's largest transcontinental snow forest"; Roque Bentayga, a mountain peak in the subtropical Canary Islands; and the name of the founder of Bentley Motors: W.O. Bentley.

At this time, the car has not been officially unveiled. Looks like Bentley, keep the 4x4 secret quite well, and this model will be shown to the world this year. Recently, the car was caught making some tests on the sand dunes of Dubai, a sign that the English brand focused on the off-road part. This means that will not be a simple city SUV, elegant and comfortable. It will be more like an off-road vehicle, such as the Range Rover and Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

As far as the engines are concerned, they will be taken from the models present on the market today, either with 8 or 12 pistons. And the price will clearly be more than 150,000 Euro.

Those from Bentley had planned sales of about 3,500 copies of this model globally in 2016. This way, the company's total sales will go up to 15,000 units. Approximately one quarter of Bentayga sales is expected to come from US customers.

At the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the concept called the EXP 9 F was shown. But the Bentayga has changed a lot since the concept. Thus, the front part has been modified to look more like the Bentley production models we know.

"Bentayga is a name that reflects what we know our SUV will do better than any other car in the world - combine the best automotive luxury with outstanding performance to take the Bentley experience to new environments" commented Durheimer on the upcoming SUV.

He vowed that the Bentayga will be the "fastest, most luxurious, most exclusive SUV in the world. In other words, it will be the Bentley of SUVs."
