Audi Unveils Latest Allroad Shooting Brake Concept Prior to Official Reveal
|   Wednesday, January 15, 2014
Audi's recently unveiled Allroad Shooting Brake concept is the closest we will get, to witnessing the next generation TT Coupe, prior to its official unveil. The Allroad Shooting Brake Concept is expected to launch at Detroit next week, although prior images have come up this week. Audi claims that their TT will share some of its designing cues with this vehicle, while concrete images will be displayed soon.

Unofficially speaking, both vehicles share similar exterior design pattern, which is forcing us to think of this vehicle, as a Shooting Brake variant of the TT Coupe.
Even though Audi showcased a similar Shooting Brake Concept almost a decade back, they failed to bring it into production. This time however, things seem to be different. Hence, we could be looking at a new vehicle from Audi, after years.

The Allroad Shooting Brake Concept measures 4.2 meter in length, while its exterior body frame is made up of carbon fiber reinforced plastics and aluminum. Production variant of Audi's latest TT Coupe is expected to be all aluminum, details of which are yet to be officially unveiled. A high performance variant is hence expected and we hope to see carbon fiber reinforcements on its body frame.

The Allroad Shooting Brake Concept draws power from a 2.0 liter TFSI petrol engine, with twin electric motors, mated to a dual clutch transmission system. This is Audi's latest E-tron Hybrid drive train, which will be offered on most production vehicles in the near future. An electric motor has been mounted on the rear axle, which works together with the engine up front, to provide all wheel drive. This drive setup is powered by an 8.8 kWh battery, mounted on to its rear end for additional balance and capable of driving this vehicle for a maximum range of 31 Miles.

At full power, this engine displaces 402 BHP along with 480 ft lb of torque, while this vehicle weighs 1600 kg. A top speed of 155 MPH is claimed, while acceleration from 0 – 60 MPH takes close to 4.6 seconds. Fuel efficiency of 123.8 MPG, along with Co2 emissions of 45 g/km has been initially estimated. Audi says, a higher powered vehicle is on the cards and we are waiting to get behind its wheels.

This petrol engine works as a range extender most of the time as it generates electricity to feel its generator. Various drive modes are available for better drive experience, although Sport and Normal modes are best suited for driving on road. Throttle response is quite high, while this vehicle feels the urge to go fast. However, electronic controls prevent chances of an accident.

Exterior wise, there are various additions on this vehicle that we would like to see on a TT Coupe. It has a compact feel on the outside, even though interiors have not been clearly revealed. We are waiting for official news to arrive and we will keep you posted on those details. Visit us soon to catch up with news, updates, drive tests and reviews about Audi.
