Audi TT Clubsport Turbo Arrives With 600 Horses And Electric Compressor

Audi will present at the meeting of GTI enthusiasts from Worthersee the TT Clubsport turbo concept. This car amazes both with the spectacular exterior, but also the technologies used for the engine.

At a meeting of GTI fans, the Worthersee Tour, which takes place in the Austrian town of Reifnitz between 13-16 May, Audi will present a performance concept called TT Clubsport turbo, which is a derivative with a lot more horsepower than the street model.
It is based on the new Audi TT and has an aggressive aerodynamic kit, 14 cm flared wings, a massive rear spoiler, 20-inch wheels, carbon-ceramic discs braking system, 48 volts board electrical system, sports seats lined with Alcantara and it weighs only 1,396 kg.

Audi revealed that this project was inspired by the 80s racing car, Audi 90 IMSA GTO, which participated in the IMSA championship in the US and Canada.
Audi engineers have implemented under the hood of the TT Clubsport a turbocharged five-cylinder engine, the 2.5-liter TFSI, which uses an electric compressor, allowing it to obtain a power of 600 hp and 650 Nm of torque available between 3,000 rpm and 7,000 rpm. The power is transferred to all four wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox and the Quattro system.

Weighing just 1,396 kg, the Audi TT Clubsport Turbo can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 310 km/h.
On departure, the advantage provided by the electrically operated compressor is seen in the first 2.5 seconds, when the car quickly goes 16 meters, six more than a comparable car in terms of power.

The system, which operates the electric compressor is powered by a 48 volt source. Electricity is stored in a Li-Ion battery placed in the trunk, during braking or while driving at a constant speed.

The exterior of the car impresses with huge spoiler placed on the tailgate, manually adjustable, as well as the air inlet found on the front bumper or on the rear wings. The exhaust pipes are placed sideways in front of the rear wheels, while the rear bumper accommodates in its lower side a diffuser with an aerodynamic role.

Inside, the driver and passenger sit in sports seats with four-point safety belts. Also, they are protected in the event of an accident by a roll cage built of thin titanium tubes. At the same time, we are not missing decorative elements made of carbon fiber, or surfaces covered with black Alcantara.

Although many will be tempted to believe that the new Audi TT Turbo Concept was created to shape the future TT-RS, the German officials denied this possibility.
"The electric biturbo signifies a new dimension in driving enjoyment; it boosts sprinting ability and torque and enables high peak power. In our TDI engines, we are close to production readiness with this technology. We are now presenting it in a TFSI – here too, we are the first automaker in the world to do this. For our fans at Wörthersee, we have packaged the electric biturbo in a very sporty show car" said Prof.Dr.Ulrich Hackenberg, Audi Board Member for Technical Development.
