Audi Showcases the Latest Model of the S3
|   Monday, April 15, 2013
The latest model of the Audi S3 packs in more power than its predecessor. However, it is not up to the mark when it comes to rivaling the other hatchbacks in the segment. This is the fourth generation model of the Audi S3 and is based on similar platforms as that of the A3 sedan. The vehicle is powered by a four cylinder modified 2.0 liter turbo diesel engine which displaces 35 BHP along with 22 ft lbs of torque more than its predecessor.

The vehicle is based on a four wheel driven platform with a Haldex styled multi wet clutch technology base, designed to give this vehicle a lucrative edge.
The competition in the market is tough and the S3 packs in a demure styling as Audi is keen on maintaining a professional yet elegant look on its vehicles.

However, the exterior design of the vehicle is more aggressive than its predecessor. The vehicle features 18 inch standard sport rims while the suspension has been lowered by 25 mm. This gives the vehicle better road control and enhances handling and traction by a margin. The interior of the S3 is quite laid back and this gives this vehicle an executive feel. Audi is offering a host of customizable features and this is the best part about the vehicle.

The vehicle has a great all round view while the dashboard mounted central monitor controls all the basic features and functionalities of the vehicle. However, the best part about the vehicle is the quality of material used in the interior. The vehicle sports an optional four cylinder EA888 engine from Audi which saving 60 kg lighter than its predecessor and this additional weight of the vehicle.

Permanent four wheel drive enhances body control and makes this vehicle a pleasure to drive. Audi claims that this vehicle is capable of travelling from 0 – 60 MPH within 4.8 seconds and the figure is quite amazing considering the size of the machine. Sporting a top speed of 155 MPH, the three doors S3 sports bag is 0.3 seconds quicker than the five door version.

The performance of this vehicle is not mind boggling although the new engine provides additional power as compared to its predecessor. The engine and exhaust note also sounds exhaustive and this gives a lackluster feel while driving the car. The lack of intensity and density of the engine is the major reason behind the low sound track and Audi could surely enhance the power delivery of the machine.

The Audi S3 is the younger sibling of the A3 sedan and is designed on Audi's MQB platform. This aims at enhancing the weight distribution of the vehicle which as a result enhances the traction as well as performance of the vehicle. However, the only problem with the S3 is that it lacks the initial market hype which is a major part of any car sale. Audi is however confident of sales picking up as soon as the S3 is available at showrooms.
