Audi reveals the details of the Cross Lane Coupe Concept

Car makers Audi have recently showcased the Cross Lane Coupe at the Paris International Motor Show 2012. The vehicle which was in its proto type state so far is finally here to make its mark and this showcases what future vehicles from Audi could look like.

The present Audi Cross Lane Coupe Concept is also in the development stages and the exterior of the vehicle could resemble that of the actual production vehicle once it hits the showrooms across the globe.
The Cross Lane Coupe Concept features Audi's innovative light weight design principle and the vehicle is powered by a 1.5 liter three cylindered TFSI petrol powered engine.

The vehicle features a fuel economy of 156.8 mpg with Co2 emission of just 25 g/km. Audi has designed the Cross Lane Coupe to accommodate the choice of the youth and then vehicle is technologically advanced as well as performs well and looks stylish. These are all the criterions that make up a good car for the youth and the Cross Lane Coupe manages to do all with flair.

The advanced customizable customer services from Audi make the Cross Lane Coupe a vehicle to own and the advanced innovations used in this car is at par with most of the modern technology that we see around us. Audi has used its multi functional space frame in the Cross Lane Concept and the vehicle has its chassis made out of aluminum, reinforced polymer and hi tech carbon fiber.

The Cross Lane Concept features a total curb weight of 1380 kg and this includes the weight of the electric setup which includes a lithium ion battery. The rigidity and strength of the structure is maintained due to the extensive use of aluminum and the vehicle has undergone extensive tests at the air tunnel to bring its exterior aerodynamics to perfection.

Audi is confident about the space frame technology being successful in the future and all the latest vehicles from Audi are set to feature the space frame design. Use of aluminum is the major part behind the body work and chassis and the engine also features the use of advanced alloys to reduce weight.

The vehicle is quite cost effective and efficient and this is the main feature that will judge the popularity and sales of the Cross Lane when it finally comes into the production stage. The engine on the Cross Lane Coupe Concept produces 177 PS and accelerates from 0 – 60 mph in less than 6.8 seconds. 0 – 100 mph comes in under 9.8 seconds and this standard considering the top speed of the vehicle which is 113 mph.

The lithium ion battery displaces 17.4 KWH and the car can travel solely on the electric motor for more than 53 miles without recharge. The vehicle can reach a top speed of 80 mph solely on the electric engine after which the petrol engine kicks in. The Cross lane Concept is a highly fuel efficient vehicle and customers are waiting for the vehicle to hit mass production.
