Audi Plans on Showcasing the 2016 A8 Sedan Online This Week
|   Sunday, August 18, 2013
Audi is all set to reveal its flagship production model – the A8 Sedan – anytime within the next few days. Audi confirmed that the firm will officially unveil the A8 sedan online on the 21st of August while the vehicle will be showcased before the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show on the 10th of September. However, in the wait up to the launch, numerous renderings of the Audi A8 sedan have surfaced on the internet although whether any of these images actually represents the original car remains to be seen.

Audi had previously showcased a few sketches of the A8 Sedan a few weeks back and most of the visual renderings are roughly based on those sketches. Even though the styling on the vehicle is minimal, this is the face lifted vehicle. The original A8 sedan launched quite some time back and it was time for a new car to be introduced to the lineup.

The biggest changes on the car are expected to be the new grille, LED Daytime Running Lights, sequential turn signals along with the latest Matrix LED Technology. However, none of these features will make it on US shored due to the stringent lighting laws in the country. Even though details of the drive train and interior are yet to be ascertained it is expected that the car will be powered by a 3.0 liter TDI diesel engine.

The current generation 4.0 liter engine can also be borrowed apart from the 3.0 liter engine although Audi is working closely on a 6.3 liter diesel hybrid power train as well. The 3.0 liter engine is however a new addition and will be added to the vehicles fall 2014. However, Audi has claimed that the A8 sedan is all about evolution and not revolution and as a result most of the design aspects of the car are expected to be similar to that of the current generation model.

However, a significant change has been hinted at once the car makes it across showrooms fall 2016. This car will however feature a new front and rear bumper along with updated exhaust finish and a new front grille. All these make the Audi A8 sedan a gorgeous addition. The Matrix Technology LED is a new concept and includes the use of 25 individual diodes which give it immense power.

The sequentially illuminating turn lights feature 18 individual diodes while the head lamps feature 24 diodes. This gives the car a rather illuminated look which is banned in some countries across the globe. However, the new A8 sedan will be available with the current generation lighting strategy in such countries. The exhaust is also expected to have been upgraded and this as a result should increase performance.

Although this is just a speculation at the moment, these modifications would play a major role in enhancing the way the A8 shapes up. This car is a major attraction for the executive class and Audi is trying to maintain the classy image of the vehicle while bringing in some style.
