Audi Plans on Launching the Next Generation RS Q3 SUV
|   Wednesday, February 20, 2013
Audi has added the first SUV based vehicle to its lineup and this is proof that the premium segment German car makers are looking forward to introducing a new SUV to their lineup. Audi is all lined up to unveil the 2.5 liter five cylindered turbo charged RS Q3 displacing 305 BHP and the vehicle is set to be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

The RS Q3 is also expected to be the best in line RS model till date and will rival the 2.0 liter turbo charged BMW X1 displacing 242 BHP.
The all new Mercedes Benz GLA 45 AMG is also the newest kid on the block and in the same segment as the RS Q3. Therefore, the competition in this segment is soon to rise and this could be good news for people aiming to buy a premium segment SUV.

The 2.0 liter engine installed in the GLA 45 AMG is the same as that used in the recently unveiled A45 AMG and this means that the RS Q3 will face stiff competition from day one. The RS Q3 Concept was showcased at the Beijing Motor Show in 2012 and the vehicle was welcomed by the audience. The same response is expected at the Geneva Motor Show and the specification of the RS Q3 has been revealed by Audi prior to the show in order to keep the hype in the market alive.

The exterior modifications on the RS Q3 include an all black honeycomb grille up front, aligned air ducts, all aluminum body frame and deeper bumpers to keep the vehicle safe. The colored wheel arches also enhance the total exterior appeal of the vehicle and the matt aluminum look on the exterior of the vehicle with the premium spoiler and tail lamp enhance the overall appeal of the vehicle.

Including the new bumper at the front and rear, the RS Q3 measures 4.41 meters and the vehicle is powered by a five cylindered 2.5 liter petrol engine lofted off the latest generation of the Audi TT. The power to weight ratio of the RS Q3 is also efficient and this makes the vehicle quite performance oriented in the segment.

Outright speed cannot be expected from the RS Q3 and optimum power displacement of 306 BHP is adequate to keep the driver motivated. The optimum rev band is between the 1500 and 5200 RPM mark and this is the most powerful Q3 model in its lineup till date. The seven speed S Tronic automatic transmission system installed on the vehicle increase performance and the response time is quite low taking refinement to a whole new level.

The three drive modes – Drive, Sport and Manual – control the power displacement, distribution and electronic assistance measures and the multi link suspension is also top notch. Tire grip is quite efficient and traction control enables the driver to push the vehicle to a whole new level. Sporting a top speed of 155 MPH, Audi claims that the RS Q3 accelerates from 0 – 60 MPH in 5.5 seconds.
