Audi Plans on Launching its Sport Quattro Concept Next Week
|   Tuesday, January 07, 2014
Audi confirms plans to showcase the second variant of its Sports Quattro concept at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronic Show next week. This vehicle is based on the Sport Quattro which was showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013. Audi christened it the Sport Quattro Laser light concept, which reportedly portrays the future of modern technology. This vehicle features laser light technology along with matrix LED, creating an effect which has never seen before.

Two features are visible on its head light assembly – laser light technology on the inside, for greater vision and LED on the outside to enhance beauty. Audi claims that laser diodes are smaller in comparison to LED, even though they are capable of providing thrice the luminous capacity of LEDs with twice its lighting range. This technology will be implemented in Audi's R8 e-tron Quattro race car next season although plans are yet to be finalized.

All new lighting schemes have put significant pressure on the designing team to modify interior trim as well; these changes are seen clearly on the car. A number of buttons controlling various features have been added to the dashboard while red has been chosen as its base color scheme. Auto Drive and hybrid buttons have also been added along with a range of advanced driver aids.

We should be able to come up with details quite soon even though we are not aware of much as of now. Audi has also hinted at a new steering wheel design on the Sports Quattro concept while navigation and infotainment have been taken quite seriously here. A TFT touch screen device with 3D graphics technology is installed in the car and this should give it an edge in terms of connectivity as no other manufacturer is currently providing these.

The primary setup is powered by an Nvidia Tegra 30 processor, which is powerful enough to run small devices and is quite common on various pocket devices today. A new smart phone technology interface was used while a revised MMI controller is currently being worked on. Mechanical and other drive train measures are yet to be announced officially, although insiders have hinted at few basic points.

A 690 BHP displacing engine is in use even though it is claimed to provide a fuel efficiency of 113 MPG. This is the first time such extraordinary figures have been claimed and is due to its advanced hybrid technology. People have been showing interest in this vehicle ever since it was announced although the hype seems to have doubled ever since Audi revealed details.

This is truly a car for the future and Audi has gone a long way to develop this project, according to Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Chief of Audi. We are waiting impatiently to catch a glimpse of what Audi has on offer while major tech giants, i.e. Apple, Samsung Corp. etc, are also showing interest in uncovering this technology. This should be a grand event, hence stay tuned for latest updates, news and reports.
