Audi Is All Set To Roll Out the Next Generation Q5
|   Saturday, February 16, 2013
The all new Audi Q5 sports a 2.0 liter TFSI engine, mated to a Tiptronic eight speed automatic transmissions system and is expected to be the best in class vehicle till date. This diesel vehicle is priced at £35,985 and features a steep price tag. However, the steep price will be forgotten the moment you step inside the cabin. Audi has designed the Q5 to be part of a new generation of soft roaders and the vehicle takes on country roads as efficiently as it performs on asphalt.

The Q5 in addition, is quite sturdy and versatile and provides great value for money apart from offering great value for money. The Q5 features 19 inch rims, Daytime Running Lights as well as advanced Xenon head lamps. The road presence of the Q5 is obvious from the very first instance a person sees the vehicle.

The high levels of functionality as well as the overall dimensions make the Q5 one of the most efficient vehicles on road. The chassis and body structure of the Q5 is strong and Audi is offering an additional body kit that is set to give the Q5 an added visual impact on road. The steering division on the Q5 is smooth and light and there is minimum body roll.

The all new MMI driver interface from Audi – for an additional £1,525 – is a new addition although the new drivers will get to understand the basic features after the car launches. However, most of the anomalies that plagued the Audi Q5 in the past are back to haunt the current vehicle. The vehicle sports a weak ride and ride comfort is far from pleasing.

The chassis does not inspire confidence in course of speeding and this is a major drawback which undermines the efficiency of the Audi Q5 as a proper soft roader. The 2.0 liter TFSI engine is powerful enough to drive the Q5 out of most situations and the enormous torque development of the engine comes in handy. The Tiptronic eight speed transmission system perfectly matches power and fuel efficiency and this makes the vehicle a potential ride on road.

However, the transmission ratios are not even and that proves to be a major turnaround for many. Audi has offered a manual transmission option too although the Q5's low responsiveness to the manual transmission system is a downside. The claimed fuel efficiency according to Audi is 29.4 MPG however the figure is yet to be tested on road. However, it is expected that the Q5 will return close to 35.8 MPG on the combined circuit.

The cabin space in the Q5 is adequate and the overall refinement level is typically Audi. However, being petrol, the vehicle will not find popularity with the masses as a diesel option would have been more practical.

However, the petrol Q5 is perfect when it comes to general ergonomics and advanced safety and comfort. However, fuel efficiency is the downside and that is sure to take a slice off the Q5's cake post launch.
