Audi impresses all again with the R8

It has been heard sometimes that Audi has opted the V10 engine over the V8 used in older R8's. Even with this release, they refuse to go back to the V8 which customers seemed to like more.

The base model with the V10 will generate around 550 bhp. A Plus version which they had introduced lately increased that to a whooping 610 bhp. This power output is possible because of the massive 5.2 litre engine resting at the back of the car. What makes things even better is the turbocharger unit.
While most supercars have a range around 4000 rpm, Audi R8 will have rpm over 5000.

A seven speed dual clutch gearbox takes things to the next level. Computer controlled automatic transmission makes gear shifts without a glitch, the level of smoothness with which it carries the action is unparalleled. Even opening the throttle at high speed does not make glitches in transmission. Power will be delivered to all four wheels.

Cornering is bliss with Audi R8. The powerful ten cylinders engine cuts across corners with ease and a different level of smoothness. Auto mode will handle all complex functions like power steering, acceleration and speed to computers. Result is an immensely powerful vehicle that does not feel angry or loud most of the time or out of control at really tight places.

Carbon Fiber was used for construction in most parts of the vehicle including the lower posts, air intake grilles, air sills and lower central section of the tub. Aluminium is used largely for the body shells and panels. Seats are of high quality leather and offer comfort ability of a typical high end sports car.

Inside R8 we can find a world that is common to almost all supercars but has some unique qualities of its own. Steering wheel is adorned with a nice collection of buttons and paddle shifts to make gear changes easy. The buttons will offer control for audio system, cellular integration and voice control. Touch screen control panel is present as usual along with the heavy instrumentation and intelligent display gauges. Air conditioning unit will heat or cool the cabin automatically by monitoring temperature. It will also filter the air and ventilate the cabin, keeping the air fresh.

Most of the vehicle's dynamics and functionality will be controlled by computers. Every turn, all acceleration ratings will be monitored closely, down force, power output and drag will be calculated. Various such data will help in making intelligent adjustments regarding the powertrain and transmission.

Multiple driving modes will let one preselect the surrounding condition or the preferred power output distribution and output mechanism. These settings will increase overall efficiency and fuel consumption. Safety will not go unnourished in Audi R8. It has every security feature one can demand from a sports car, including remote monitoring and anti theft mechanisms.

Design wise, it will look almost the same as older models. Ride height will probably change to accommodate additional modules. The curvy body, large air intakes at the side and long, sleek, rectangular headlight clusters amplifies the beauty up to several notch.
