Audi Confirms the Launch of its 2014 A3 Cabriolet at Frankfurt this Week
|   Tuesday, September 10, 2013
Audi has plans to showcase its latest variant of the A3 Cabriolet, based on its sedan version instead of its hatchback variant and this is expected to draw in more attention as it provides ample amount of space, lacking in the initial variant of the car. Audi's A3 Cabriolet is now 200 mm larger than its predecessor even though the MQB platform ensures light weight characteristic of this car.

This means that the 2014 version is actually 50 kg lighter than its predecessor even though it is larger than its previous generation model.
Audi's A3 Cabriolet still sports its soft top roof which takes close to 18 seconds to come off while the car is at rest. This can however function to a maximum speed of 30 MPH. Audi has also tucked in a secret tray in the boot and this is where the roof is stored instead of the top of its rear deck like its predecessor.

The chrome roll over hoofs from its previous generation model has been replaced by spring loaded black bars on the current generation vehicle. Audi has however left open an option of converting its soft top to a black hard top although this should cost an extra buck. The roof comes in brown or grey apart from black while a wind deflector is added as standard on every model apart from head level heating options.

Audi's A3 Cabriolet will be powered by big engines currently in its lineup, once this car is officially unveiled early next year. Audi claims that this car will draw power from 1.4 liter TFSI and 1.8 liter TFSI petrol engines, displacing 138 BHP and 178 BHP respectively. A range topping 2.0 liter diesel TDI engine displaces 161 BHP.
Audi is also expected to introduce a 1.6 liter TDI engine displacing 109 BHP while an upcoming Audi S3 will feature its same engine apart from its range topping 2.0 liter petrol TFSI engine. All engine options are being mated to a six speed S Tronic transmission system while its car is capable of accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH within 5.4 seconds.

Although Audi is quite ready with its vehicles, its mother company is yet to officially announce a price for its global launch. Experts however claim that this vehicle should sport a price tag of £25,000 at the time of launch. Audi's four wheel drive QUATTRO technology is standard on all models. Audi claims that its A3 Cabriolet is set to go on sale in October 2013 while its first batch should arrive on British soil by the middle of 2014.

Audi's A3 cabriolet is a class leading vehicle and considering the fact that it is an Audi no compromises have been made in terms of quality and refinement. Audi is German engineering at its best and the car has been designed to engineering perfection. This car will be showcased later this week at the Frankfurt Motor Show and the hype around it is on a constant rise.
