Audi announces full review of 2016 Q7's first drive
|   Monday, June 08, 2015
Finally, Audi releases the full review of its 2016 Q7 after its first test drive. It is quite a while since the Audi engineers started to plan and execute this mission from 2009. Its an original video of that time was even four years older. It was shown for the first time as a concept car during January 2003 and first production version launched in 2005.

Audi took so many years to bring its successor to world market for valid reasons. During this break, two development chiefs have been changed and each time this model was re-examined thoroughly.
The 2016 Q7 has a second Gen MLB architecture which makes it a pilot vehicle. This is a very important aspect of VW group as it serves like the base of future Audi, Bentley, VW and Porsche models. This model needs a cleaner production based launch as said by R&D's Chief Hackenberg. He also explained that having sold more than around 500,000 units worldwide while its previous version has been really sold all over the world. Another reason for bringing it so late is Audi knows that its previous model was so popular and successful that it didn't require any replacement soon.

This new version of Q7 has more modesty with aggressiveness that it was missing last time. It does not look like smaller, but given numbers suggest it is smaller this time around by a few inches. But this reduction is adjusted by its new grille having boxy fenders that are elude Audi's Quattro coupe. Its lower flanks have silver decorative trims, but these cannot cut those visual bulks like before. With its 20 and 21 inches sized extra large wheels, the new Q7 looks amazingly great.

The new Q7 managed to reduce over 700 pounds as announced by Audi. But the car does not look like losing so much weight by its appearance. Each time it has been reducing weight from the first version to 2016 version, but this latest update removes so much of weight that it is hard to believe. Only its axles have reduced up to 148 pounds since its body used a lot of aluminum. Since, it is now a lot lighter, so its efficiency has been increased as well. Its U.S version has got an engine of 3.0 liter size TDI with 272 hp producing 3.0 L supercharged V6 tech with 333 hp.

This is a diesel engine by default; however, if diesel is removed its starting turbo will reach up to 1500 rpm and even higher. It rides upon a 443 lb ft torque with a ZF sourced 8 speeds, auto transmission helping it to mitigate even in low end dawdling with proper gear selection. Its soundtrack got muted delivering power of one subdued growl. Audi confirmed that the 2016 Q7 will reach from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 6.0 seconds only. The European version can reach up to a maximum speed of 145 mph. It has a very nice fuel efficiency giving about 32 mpg in highways.
