Audi A3 1.4 liter TFSI is an Entry Level Sedan to Look out For
|   Saturday, July 20, 2013
The A3 sedan is the latest addition to Audi's A3 lineup and the company has added a range of models to its highly specified sedan class. Apart from the 2.0 liter TDI engine, Audi has also added a low powered 1.4 liter TFSI engine propelled model to the lineup. The 1.4 liter TFSI model is based on a wider platform than the A3 Sport Back and this gives it larger interior space.

The 1.4 liter TFSI engine powering the A3 sedan displaces 138 BHP and is the smallest of the three engine options showcased by Audi during the official unveil.
The larger engines were the 1.8 liter TFSI engine displacing 178 BHP and the 2.0 liter TDI engine displacing 148 BHP. Audi is however most likely to add two engine options to this already varied range in the form of a 1.6 liter 104 BHP displacing model and a 2.0 liter TDI engine displacing 181 BHP, although official launch dates have not been confirmed.

The 1.4 liter entry level engine however features Audi's advanced cylinder on demand technology. This technology controls the power displaced by the cylinders according to the driving trend of the people behind the wheels and the requirements of the particular terrain. This also reduces mechanical wear and tear and enhances the life expectancy of the engines.

Fuel economy is also enhanced as a result and the engine management system plays an important role during each second when the engine runs. The 1.4 liter TFSI engine may seem to be quite small although it provides sufficient power to power the car through to the huge rev ranges where the motor feels completely at home.

The 1.4 liter TFSI engine does the job efficiently and saves up on fuel while reducing CO2 emissions. Even though the power displacement is not as high as the 1.8 liter or 2.0 liter motor, it propels the vehicle out of corners efficiently and this is sufficient for the A3 sedan. The A3 is an executive class sedan and is not designed to be used for performance tests on road.
Audi claims an average fuel efficiency of 60.1 MPG on real road conditions and this should be sufficient for its class. The seven speed S Tronic transmission system on the A3 sedan is a class leader although Audi is planning to introduce a six speed transmission later on. The seven speed transmission from Audi is a proven transmission system and is very efficient for highway cruising and overtaking. Safety measures abound the A3 sedan and the parts used are of superior quality than the ones used on its predecessor.

The gear ratios are well balanced and this gives equivalent power at both first and sixth gears. Acceleration is the primary objective when it comes to sedans and the 1.4 liter TFSI engine manages to displace sufficient torque and power. The Audi A3 1.4 liter TFSI is currently available in the market and sales are picking up smoothly and quickly. If you can afford the £24,305 price tag the A3 sports, this is the best car that money can buy in this segment.
