Aston Martin Vulcan Gets 7.0-Liter V12 For 800 HP

Aston Martin began to lose ground to Italians rivals, especially when we think about that almost all their models seem technologically outdated compared to Ferrari, Lamborghini or McLaren. The design is largely the same, with minor improvements, but still nothing new.

What is noticeable in the last period have been one-off concepts, and here we are talking about the DB 10 concept created for the Spectre production of the James Bond franchise. Then we have the Lagonda Taraf variant, a super luxury limousine which, frankly, does not look like an Aston Martin, and it will be produced in a limited number of copies.
Continuing the same trend, the British introduced a new toy: one that is exclusively for the race track, becoming the most radical Aston Martin project until now.

Because last year Ferrari presented the LaFerrari FXXK version and McLaren wowed audiences with the P1 GTR project, Aston Martin decided that the market for super exclusive models dedicated only for the track provides potential. Therefore, at the Geneva Motor Show the extreme Vulcan was presented; a name that could not have been chosen better.

Aston Martin is powered by a volcanic 7-liter engine in V12 configuration, which produces no less than 800 horsepower. This engine is inspired by motorsport competitions and the immense power is not obtained by turbines, or hybrid systems like competitors do, but is all aspirated. The whole bodywork is derived from the bodywork of competition models, thus the monocoque is made of carbon fiber, drive shaft is carbon, we have carbon-ceramic brakes and the limited-slip differential is new.

The power is transmitted to the rear wheels using a sequential gearbox with six reports. The suspension is also one used in competitions and Aston Martin says that Vulcan meets all FIA homologation.

With these approvals, Aston Martin wants to give prospective customers the opportunity to compete on the track in a limited series. There will be only 24 Aston Martin Vulcan pieces, each at a price of about 1.8 million euro. If we consider the McLaren GTR P1 can reach 3 million euro, the Vulcan seems a real bargain.

In terms of design, the Aston Martin Vulcan is as radical and extreme as the performance of which it is capable of. The body shape is undoubtedly British in style, but seeing that the optical blocks are practically nonexistent gives a very menacing presence. The hood provides multiple aerodynamic elements and the front bumper is reminiscent of racing models. Given that it is not a model for road use the exhaust is placed on the side.

However the interior looks as conventional as possible, only the steering wheel and dashboard instrumentation get you thinking about motorsports. Aston Martin officials have suggested that the design of the new Vulcan will be the inspiration for future models in the UK.

"Aston Martin Vulcan is, by its very nature, a rare and thrilling supercar. Designed and engineered to deliver a genuinely bespoke driving experience that draws on our rich heritage, this car tailors its power and handling to both the capabilities of the driver and the characteristics of the track. A sports car for true sports car lovers, I believe the Aston Martin Vulcan – and the unique ownership program that sits behind it – sets a whole new standard in the ultra-high luxury supercar class" said Dr Andy Palmer, Aston's CEO.
