Aston Martin Unveils the Four Door Rapide S
|   Wednesday, July 03, 2013
The Aston Martin Rapide S is by far the most practical yet sporty creation from the British car making legends. Based on a similar platform as the DB9, the wheel base has been extended by 25 cm. This enhances the cabin space while the roof is tapered towards the rear. The rear is spacious enough to accommodate two adults while the head and leg room is greater than its predecessor.

The Aston Martin Rapide S is powered by a 6.0 liter V12 engine displacing 550 BHP.
The Rapide S was given a mid life face lift back in 2012 and Aston Martin decided on introducing a new model two years later. The front grille on the Rapid S prevails and this gives the vehicle a long nosed look and retains the elegance of the Rapide S.

The front end was first previewed in the DB9 Coupe and it was the biggest head turning design ever manufactured by Aston Martin. This however has been borrowed by the Rapide S and as a result it is not unprecedented if people actually confuse the two vehicles. The hinged rear doors are the first on an Aston Martin as people are not actually used to seeing a five door vehicle from the company.

The interior features some of the most advanced features to ever be used on an Aston Martin and the leather and wood trim is a one of a kind way to enhance the feel of this vehicle. Driving the Rapide S feels like no other vehicle and the 550 BHP displaced by the engine provides a gush of power every time the throttle is pushed back. This proves how massively powerful the engine actually is.

The Rapide S is capable of accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH within 4.9 seconds and considering the weight of the vehicle, you will realize that this is standard enough. The Rapide S is capable of reaching a top speed of 190 MPH while the six speed drive Touch Tronic automated transmission system provides a sophisticated touch to the drive. The twin clutch dual drive technology used on the vehicle further enhances the overall ride quality of the vehicle.

The true character of the Rapide S is revealed on the test track or freeways and this is the time when this car feels at home. Even though this is quite interesting, it does not come in as a surprise as the engine is quite too big considering many standards. The Rapide S is one of the most reliable machines on road and this is not surprising at all.

The engine is tried and tested while the interior is quite advanced and spacious. Satellite navigation, Bluetooth and USB connectivity are standard while the practical approach to this car is also greater than any vehicle from Aston Martin ever. The company has finally designed a car which can be used to travel comfortably. However, Porsche's first four door extended hatch back, the Panamera performs similar functions and is also a cheaper alternative.
