Aston Martin Revealed the Jet 2+2 Shooting Brake at Geneva
|   Monday, March 25, 2013
Aston Martin has revealed the first glimpse of the Rapide Concept and the vehicle was designed by Bertone – an Italian designing and coach building firm. The Rapide Shooting Brake will be on display at the Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle is known as the Bertone Jet 2 + 2 and has been designed to commemorate the completion of 60 years of the Bertone and

Aston Martin partnership. The Jet 2 + 2 follows The Jet 2, launched in 2004.
The Jet 2 was the Shooting Brake variant of the Vanquish and has been commissioned as a one piece vehicle by a famous Aston Martin collector.
The Jet 2 + 2 features similar mechanical credentials as that of the rapid and shares similar dimensions. The vehicle is powered by a 5.9 liter V12 engine displacing 470 BHP.

This engine has been lifted directly off the Rapide and is preferred over the 550 BHP displacing engine of the Rapide S which will also be showcased at Geneva next month. The most notable change that the Rapide features over the Jet 2 + 2; is the Shooting Brake styled body frame. The exterior has been heavily modified and features muscular changes in the car's elegantly slim shape.

Bertone mentions that the C pillars attached to the vehicle are tall and have been bent to connect the muscular arches, hence creating the impression that the vehicle is in motion, when in reality it is stationary. A redesigned tail lamp along with a full length LED light strip completes the transformation of this vehicle from a sedan to a Shooting Brake. The cabin has been designed elegantly and features 4 individual seats.

Head room has been increased and this is solely accredited to the body style switch. Leg room has been enhanced too and as a result the passengers can enjoy a comfortable ride while carrying a decent amount of luggage too. The tail gate has to be lifted to access the storage area and this enhances the visual aesthetics of the Jet 2 + 2, without actually affecting the practicality of the vehicle.

The interior features a special dual tone leather upholstery, wooden dash board and panels apart from hand stitched finishing. Overall, this vehicle presents a complete ride. Aston Martin has however not confirmed plans of launching this vehicle and no official reports have come in, apart from the fact that the vehicle will be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show next month. The cabin feels like a luxury suite and the seats are quite comfortable and provide appropriate thigh support.

The driver's seat is also quite high, like that of the Rapide and as a result, driving this vehicle is an amazing experience. Amazing throttle and gear response is a niche when it comes to the Jet 2 + 2 and the intricately carved out body panels of the vehicle also make it a sight for sore eyes. Metallic finish body paint completes the overall look and gives this vehicle the sophisticated look.
