Aston Martin ready to launch the all new Rapide S
|   Sunday, January 27, 2013
Aston Martin has boosted power production in the Rapide S to give this vehicle a much needed market rush during the time this vehicle was reaching its mid life crisis. Aston Martin has also stressed the use of the S after the Rapide, to give the vehicle a brand name signifying its superiority to the GT in the market. The new four door sedan has been completely refined and this time the complete emphasis has been made on performance.

The Rapide S is powered by a 5.
liter V12 turbo charged petrol engine and is capable of displacing 550 BHP and 620 ft lbs of torque. Power production has been increased by 80 BHP and 20 ft lbs and these are massive figures. The company claims that the mid and low range power production has been increased and this could mean a stunning ride quality.

The Rapide S travels to 60 MPH from a standstill in 4.9 seconds and this is 0.3 seconds quicker than what the Rapide was capable of putting up. Top speed has been calculated at 190 MPH and there is a slight increase from 188 MPH boasted by the Rapide. Although the Rapide S features a performance increase, no considerable change in the fuel efficiency or the CO2 emission has taken place.

CO2 emission recorded was at 332 g/km, down from the standard 355 g/km noted down by the Rapide. No notable exterior modifications have been made other than a few notable ones such as s rear splitter, exterior mirrors and a rear diffuser. Aston Martin is also offering a distinct carbon fiber exterior package for the Rapide S and this is available for a slight price increase.

An optional dual tone interior is also available and use of black upholstery enhances the interior appeal. A total of 900 liter of boot space is available once the rear seats have been folded and the Aston Martin Rapide S has been based on the quite popular VH platform. The Rapid S features the fourth generation upgrades such as the three drive modes – Normal, Track and Sport, safety adjustments and a decrease in the ride height of the vehicle by 19 mm.

The Rapide S is expected to be available in showrooms fall February 2013 and could sport a basic price tag of £150,000. Although there is no certain increase in performance, the price tag will remain the same due to the various major and minor facelifts that the car has been put through.

Economy is quite good and the vehicle also scores in terms of trim level and level of details. Aston Martin could use this platform to develop better vehicles in the future as a lot of scope is still present when it comes to designing on this platform. The Rapide S makes up for good value for money although the company has nothing new to offer in terms of performance, aesthetics or overall visual changes. To be honest the Rapide S is a pretty basic vehicle.
