Aston Martin Confirmed Production Version Of The DBX Concept
|   Friday, May 22, 2015
Aston Martin has officially confirmed the serial version of the DBX concept, which made its world premiere this spring at the Geneva Motor Show. The model will be part of a new expansion plan which involves an investment of 273 million euro in developing new models.

The funds for the development of this Aston Martin range were supplemented with 200 million British pounds. This is the price that needs to be paid so that one more exclusive brand loses some of its aura, because one of the clear directions where this will go is that of a coupe-SUV hybrid, called DBX, which was already shown public in concept form.

102 years of sporting tradition are obliged to pay tribute to the claims of increasingly strange premium car buyers. But Aston Martin, which unlike Porsche or Ferrari no longer has a great parent brand to support it after leaving under the umbrella of Ford, is, in a way, on its own, and the development of the new models costs a lot.
Luckily, the companies from Italy and from the Middle East which hold Aston Martin understood the need for a serious infusion of capital to cope with market changes. At least, that is what was left to be understood by Andy Palmer, head of Aston Martin.

The company's capital will be increased in two phases: the first 100 million pounds, converted into shares, have entered the market on 29 April, while a similar amount will be available in shares in the next 12 months.

"This additional long-term funding will enable us to add extra model lines and broaden our presence in the luxury market segment by the end of the decade. The DBX concept, has generated interest far beyond our expectations. The additional investment announced today will allow us to realize the DBX and other new luxury vehicles that will form the strongest and most diverse portfolio in our history" stated Aston Martin CEO, Andy Palmer.

Having already been six months at the helm of Aston Martin, it is quite clear that Palmer's first concern was to obtain more funds and new investments in order to actually focus on increasing the offer. Now that the money was obtained, Aston Martin will offer sports car, the house's long term specialty, super luxury sedans and relatively strange crossover models (just look at the DBX).

There will be two platforms, one which will underpin the models that proudly wear the brand logo, and one that will serve the mercenary models with too many doors, too large luggage compartment or even the unexplained ground guard.

Recently the financial results for the year 2014 for Aston Martin were announced. Approximately 4,000 units were sold, a far-cry from the 7,300 units sold in 2007, the record year until now.

The profit was 66 million pounds, from total revenue of 468 million pounds. Palmer wants to strengthen the financial condition of Aston Martin, especially because if we look in the history books, the beloved company was no less than seven times on the verge of financial collapse in over a century.
