Aston Martin Completes One Hundred Years Of Their Heritage
|   Monday, January 07, 2013
Aston Martin was originally founded in 1913 as Bamford & Martin, after Robert Bamford and Lionel Martin. The name was changed to Aston Martin in 1914 as their first production car won the Aston Clinton hill climb challenge in Buckinghamshire. The Chelsea based company earned a reputation for providing sports machines for enthusiasts and racers. The firm competed at the French Grand Prix in 1926 and two cars had completed the race successfully.

Aston Martin started producing some of the best vehicles with its tagline post 1947, under David Brown, a British industrialist and the new owner.
The first Aston Martin to sport the DB badge was the DB 2 and it entered production the same year. The DB 2 was followed up by the DB 3, DB 4 and the DBR 1 sports vehicle in 1957. Aston Martin relocated to Newport Pagnell the same year.

Aston Martin formed an alliance with Zagato, the Italian coach builder and the DB 4 GT Zagato was formed subsequently. This vehicle was a highly refined one and was an exclusive model which sparked a trend subsequently in the market. This also inspired a certain exterior design which continues even till today. Aston Martin was however not recognized internationally before 1963.

This year was iconic for Aston Martin as it was the first time that the iconic DB 5 had taken its rightful place beside Sean Connery in the iconic James Bond movie, Gold finger. Since then, Aston Martin has been related to the James Bond franchise, even till today. However, in the future Bond did switch to BMW and Lotus. However, its tie up with Aston Martin is still existent.

In 1972, Aston Martin changed hands and the V8 was launched in the market. The V8 grew up to become the style statement of the modern British automotive sector. The V8 constantly showed its dominance in the sector held by the Lamborghini Countach and the Ferrari Boxer. The company again changed ownership three years on.

Aston Martin has been governed by a variety of individuals and organizations and all these change of ownerships have brought together a vast historical and cultural divergence in the way the vehicle was manufactured. This has also led to where the company is today and the exterior and interior design changes have also been vastly affected by the different engineers who have worked specifically to build up a certain class of vehicles.

The future looks bright for the company and although Aston Martin is expected to change hands quite soon again, the details have not been flashed to the public as of yet. However, the company does not look to be shut down at the moment and engineers from Aston Martin are even planning on their first SUV launch later next year. An expected £500 million is expected to be invested in the company and this will mean an improvement in the way the company functions. Aston Martin had been suffering from funds crisis for quite some time now and this seems to be the end of their worries.
