Aston Martin and BMW Ready with Their Latest Technologies
|   Tuesday, June 11, 2013
The Aston Martin Bertone Jet 2 + 2 could soon be a production model from Aston Martin, company insiders have hinted. The Bertone 2 + 2 was initially showcased at the Geneva Motor Show and was based on an estate design from Aston Martin. However, this vehicle has drawn in sufficient attention from the crowd to enable Aston Martin to look into production options quite seriously.

The Bertone Jet 2 + 2 was initially designed to celebrate Aston Martin's 60 years of car manufacture in partnership with Bertone.
The Bertone Jet 2 + 2 was initially conceived as a Limited Edition vehicle for selected customers and a small segment of the society was entitled to the vehicle. However, the company later decided to send this vehicle for mass production – although Aston Martin and Bertone are still tight lipped about the news.

The Bertone Jet 2 + 2 was initially expected to be at the top of the segment and it still remains the same way. The company however has to face the jury over the final decisions and certain legal issues need to be sorted out for the final production process to begin. If mass production in not possible, Aston Martin will launch it in the form of a Limited Edition. Bertone is famous for using Jet for its brand name and the Jet 2 + 2 draws inspiration from the Vanquish based Jet, revealed back in 2004.

The project is however on the blossoming side and if a Limited Edition does come into the question, it is expected to be named the Rapide Shooting Brake. Aston Martin chose to manufacture just 10 units of the Jet 2 + 2 and the company will be building them at their plant in Gaydon.

BMW has been working on their Connected Drive technology for quite a while now and the German car makers have finally come up with a better and an advanced version of the software. The software is now able to operate on battery power alone and will be installed in the upcoming BMW i3. BMW has also installed a fully operational GPS in their system and this has been integrated into the main server.

Connected Drive on the i3 will calculate real world distance based on the mapping software to locate the approximate distance between places. Many of the next generation technology used by BMW can be operated with certain SIM cards which can be integrated with the central system. This as a result will help people connect their vehicle to their smart phones. BMW is working tirelessly to improve technology and use it to enhance driving experience in general.

24 Countries have so far been mapped with Connected Drive and the others should be mapped by 2017. BMW's I Series is yet to arrive officially in showrooms across the globe and the technology should be implanted by the time the vehicles arrive. This is a very advanced thought and the company has gone over the facts and details quite well.
