Ariel Unveil Their First Ever Motorcycles at the GoodWood Festival of Speed
|   Friday, July 04, 2014
Ariel Automobiles has just unveiled their very first production motorcycle, labeled the Ace, with plans to launch it in 2015. Ariel plans to showcase both variants of the Ace at the Good Wood Festival of Speed this week, which will help the firm reveal both motorcycles on a global platform. The Ace is built in the same manner as an Atom, although, it goes without saying that their basic structures and chassis are different.

The Ace is expected to sport a price tag of £20,000 and is available as a cruiser and naked sports bike.
The strong structure is composed out of aluminum billet, which makes this motorcycle lightweight and durable at the same time. Like their Atom, this vehicle borrows heavily from Honda, who have helped Ariel with vehicle designs, numerous times in the past too and considering Honda's expertise in motorcycle manufacturing, we do have high hopes from the Ace too!

Ariel claims that this motorcycle has numerous design elements and features that have never been seen before, while possibilities are endless. Ariel has spent quite some time in studying the choice and demand patterns of their customers before designing the Ace, which should give them a minor advantage over other production motorcycle manufacturers.

The Ariel Ace is powered by a water cooled 1,237 cc V4 engine from the Honda VFR 1200 tourer sports, while a separate engine management system takes care of power displacement and other needs of this engine block. Even though final performance or fuel efficiency figures are yet to be unveiled, we have high hopes on this vehicle, as the Honda VFR 1200, is a steady, practical and popular motorcycle that has stood the test of times.

This could open up an all new avenues for Ariel, who has had a smooth run across markets so far. Experts are expecting top speeds near 165 MPH, while acceleration from 0 – 60 MPH is possible within 3.4 seconds. These figures are usually spotted in super cars! Ariel is currently expecting to sell close to 100 – 150 motorcycles per year, while demand could grow soon. The first lot will enter production, fall January 2015 and will be designed and built in the same manner as their current generation Atom.

This is an interesting new proposition that Ariel has made and bikers have one more reason to celebrate this year's GoodWood Festival of Speed. Like many other vehicle manufacturers such as BMW, Honda, etc, Ariel wants to try out its hand in both two and four wheeler markets. This should give the firm a much needed sales jolt.

Track tests are to commence real soon, even though most of these vehicles will spend a good amount of time on the streets. Practicality is important, while fuel efficiency is also a concern. We will just have to wait for Ariel to come out with the final test results, before we can confirm reports. Stay tuned for more, as we bring you the latest news, reports and updates from the automotive world!
