Alfa Romeo Reveals Complete Technical Details of the 4C
|   Saturday, June 29, 2013
The Alfa Romeo is considered to be a sports car which has the ability to take on most of its competition in the market. Priced at £50,000 the 4C is the perfect combination between style, luxury, speed and overall handling. The vehicle is lightweight, agile and powerful, although heavier than many other cars in its range. The Alfa Romeo 4C also enjoys the upper hand in the market due to its competitive pricing strategy.

The 4C is easy to handle on the mountain roads and turns can be killed swiftly and effortlessly.
Performance wise there is no beating the 4C on twists and turns as the suspension is stiffer than most of the other sports car in the segment. The compact wheel base and the agile and aerodynamic shape of the 4C also help its cause.

The technical details of the vehicle were unveiled recently and the killer performance of this vehicle was revealed at the event. The exterior is composed of carbon fiber parts, composite structures, running gear and light weight glass. These together enhance the way this car functions and rides. Chassis stiffness have been increased while torsion rigidity was also enhanced. The 4C weighs a little over 1100 kg and an extra 75 kg is added when this car features a filled fuel tank.

Luggage space is also quite high while the power to weight ratio of the vehicle is at an all time high. Once behind the wheel, the driver feels confident to move into curves and the crispness of the handling and stiffness instills confidence into the heart of the driver. Engineers at Alfa Romeo had the basic task of making the 4C go fast and the guys did a decent job of making the 4C reach a top speed of 155 MPH.

This is quite fast considering the price range and many high performance vehicles may also falter when it comes to performance. Alfa Romeo claims that the 4C can accelerate from 0 - 60 MPH within 5.0 seconds and the light weight materials as well as the advanced engineering have facilitated this phenomenon.

Alfa Romeo wanted to keep weight at a bare minimum to enable the 4C to be as quick as possible and the well balanced gear shift ratio also enhances the acceleration of the car. This car is not excessively quick out of the starting line but does a well balanced job nonetheless. The ECU has been remapped and this gives new life into the heart of the machine. The steering column is free while the dampers and suspension settings have been done up to sustain the body roll of the vehicle.

Overall the 4C is the result of tremendously capable engineering and the team of experts at the Research and Development center deserves entire credit for this perfect vehicle. The 4C will feature a four cylindered V6 engine while a six speed transmission system is most likely to be mated to the drive train to provide the crisp gear shifts.
