Adam Opel Might Be Sold In The US Under Buick Name
|   Friday, March 06, 2015
The Opel Adam's is the Corsa's younger brother and it could be launched in the United States market in a few years. According to Automotive News, the people at General Motors are taking into account the launch range of a model in that class under the Buick name. It will also have significant customization possibilities.

The Adam would be the best candidate, and interviewed GM representatives consider that it could be easily introduced in the brand's portfolio.
Those of Buick have already sold on the United States market the Insignia model, and the release of the Cascada model in their portfolio has been confirmed too. Unfortunately for the sales of the current generation Adam, the model was not designed from the beginning for American standards, so only the second generation of the German city car will be sold and in the United States without prohibitive costs for GM.

"I've looked at the possibility of fast-tracking that into the Buick range sooner than later. I think it would make a great Buick" stated in a recent interview Duncan Aldred, US vice president of Buick and GMC and former Vauxhall boss.

With a starting price close to 15,500 dollars, the Opel Adam is "probably the most premium model in the Opel and Vauxhall range as far as content and materials. In terms of changing expectations of the brand, that would be another absolutely jaw-dropping moment for Buick," Aldred added.

With this information the release date of the next Adam was unveiled, expected to arrive on the market in 2018. At that time the model will be designed to be compatible with the United States market. That means some changes at safety level, technology, suspension and engine.

The Fiat 500 is among the few models in this segment that were brought into the United States without dramatic change to accommodate the requirements of Americans, but the list is getting bigger. In 2013, Dan Akerson, GM's CEO at that time said that the Cascada model was not designed for the United States market and will not be sold there, but the United States company changed its mind since then and will launch the Buick Cascada in 2016.

"Customer demand for the Opel Adam shows us that this type of car has been missing on the market – a car that expresses its owner's personality, that offers almost limitless customization possibilities and that makes a real statement. And for the adventure-loving Adam drivers, we now have the robust Adam Rocks in the line-up – extremely unconventional and totally cool" said Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann, Opel Group Chairman.

The market debut of the Opel Adam model took place in 2012 at the Paris Motor Show. From then until now the car received a second bodywork version called Adam Rocks and an S performance version. Orders for the Opel Adam model started being fulfilled in early 2013. The next generation would come between 2018 and 2020 under a normal product cycle.
