Acura Reveal TLX Prototype at the Detroit Motor Show
|   Friday, January 24, 2014
Acura has unveiled a TLX proto type at the Detroit Motor Show this week and insiders say this vehicle provides insight into Honda's plans for its sister concern in recent years. Acura is planning to launch a flagship product within the next few years, while two power trains are currently being short listed for this project. A four cylindered 2.4 liter V-TEC engine, mated to an eight speed transmission system and a 3.5 liter V6 petrol engine mated to a nine speed automatic gear box are the current options.

Acura also plans on providing two-wheel drive on its V6 powered vehicle, while all wheel drive is optional on both variants. Advanced steering assist controls are in place, although official performance figures along with technical specifications are yet to be disclosed. We expected Acura to step up and make formal announcements this week. Clearly, they had something else in mind.

Engineers working on the TLX have crammed a host of new features, gadgets and technology into this vehicle, making it a one of a kind production vehicle from Acura. It is expected to set benchmarks for future production cars in terms of refinement, luxury, performance and overall dynamics. Even though details regarding technical specifications and interior are yet to be officially unveiled, we expect promising results from its production variant.

Interior trim on the production variant of this car is expected to be spacious, considering external dimensions. This vehicle is not available with a hybrid power train. Hence, there is no additional loss of space owing to extra setup. Acura plans on launching a sports variant of their TLX soon, although this vehicle is yet to be finalized.

Considering its exterior design, Acura has come a long way, while they could prove to be a tough competition for European and American car makers soon. Honda is seriously considering marketing potential vehicles through Acura and this should be a smart move considering growing needs for diversification. We are yet to attain additional details regarding the TLX. Come back soon as we will bring you updates as soon as Acura makes official announcements.
