A Glimpse At Audi Q8 Plug-in Hybrid's Brand New Flagship SUV
|   Wednesday, January 11, 2017
This week's Detroit Auto Show is full of surprises coming from some of the greatest car brands – Audi included! The famous brand is now revealing the new Q6 and Q8 models of its crossover lineup, and they surely are something new on the market.

Being no less than 16.5 feet long, the Q8 concept is best described as a large SUV with a twist. Unlike its previous version, Q7, the roofline of the Q8 is a lot more coupe-like. While it matches all the characteristic of a full size SUV on the outside, the Audi only has enough room for four passengers.
Also, it's impossible not to notice the striking resemblance to the BMW X6 in terms of rooflines, which is much sleeker than the bossy shape of the Q7. However, Audi declared that the profile of the car was inspired by the 80's Quattro sports car.

Among other things, the Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at AUDI AG, Dietmar Voggenreiter, declared that "The Q8 concept is an Audi in peak form. It demonstrates the strengths of our brand in both technology and design while providing a glimpse at a future full-size, production SUV. With its next-generation display and control solutions, we are enabling customers to experience connectivity in a whole new way."

The concept of the Q8 is mainly based on a plug-in hybrid system, which connects a 3.0L V6 to an electric motor. Its total output is of no less than 442 horsepower and 516 lv-ft. Of torque. Owing to this plug-in hybrid system, the SUV car can accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 5.4 seconds. Another great plus of the vehicle, according to critics, is that it can drive in fully electric mode for up to 37 miles.

By comparison, the previous Q7 version of the vehicle can generate 273 lb-ft. of torque and can accelerate from 0-60 mph just a half second faster than the V6 model. The pricing of the Q7 Audi was set at $49,950 and is about to be put up for sale at the beginning of this year.

So far, Audi didn't make any official announcements regarding the debut of the Q8 version, but it's highly likely that it will start by 2018.
