A Complete Review of the Magnum Mk5
|   Monday, November 04, 2013
The Magnum Mk5 was just revealed in full and this vehicle sports a base price of $139,000 or £86,631. This vehicle draws power from a four cylinder motorcycle engine lifted off Suzuki's Hayabusa, which displaces close to 247 BHP with a maximum RPM range over 11,000. This vehicle is mated to a six speed sequential transmission system while acceleration from 0 – 60 MPH is possible within 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 150 MPH.

This vehicle is based on a rear wheel drive train while much of its exterior body is composed out of carbon fiber.
This vehicle weighs a total of 546 kg while Magnum claims that a total power displacement equaling 460 BHP per ton is displaced. This vehicle has a fuel tank capacity equaling 35 liters while 18 inch steel alloyed sports rims are available as standard on this vehicle.

A four cylinder piston applies brake power while aluminum hubs and a front ventilated disk system takes care of its braking potential. The Mk5 measures 3914 x 1884 x 1069 mm (length x breadth x height) while this is a completely street legal super car. Storage space on the interior is not much although you get to store a briefcase and two race helmets on the interior.

This vehicle uses a very familiar dame functional aerodynamic body structure found in the Ariel Atoms and Caterhams. Hence, we are quite sure of what to expect from this vehicle. Its body structure takes design cues from Formula One and this should make it highly aerodynamic as compared to normal street legal race cars. The interior has been completely stripped although we do have a reverse camera for advanced parking enhancement.

Advanced race car seats with a six point harness have been strapped onto a carbon fiber interior while massive measures to keep weight in check are in place. Standard list of equipment includes removable racing steering wheel, adjustable brakes, data logger and steering dampers. These smooth out general ride comfort while enhancing drive experience. Advanced electronics can disrupt drive feel while enhancing safety measures although in this case they are pretty convenient.

The Vuhl 05 is a possible competitor to this vehicle and it is expected to go into production by early December 2013. This vehicle will be manufactured in small batches of just 20 units at a time and further launches will depend upon demand. This vehicle is expected to be powered by a 2.0 liter Eco Boost engine from Ford displacing 285 BHP while accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH within 3.7 seconds.

Magnum is very sure where it is headed with its products and even though they use standard race equipments on their products, design wise they have a super car. Performance is definitely important, but they are not all, hence good looks matter too. We are keeping our eyes peeled on this one and will bring you the details as and when we come across them. You should keep checking this column for latest updates and reviews.
