Ssangyong Tivoli - New Images And Data On Nissan Juke Future Rival
|   Tuesday, January 20, 2015
SsangYong is already present in the small SUV market in South Korea. The manufacturer has officially unveiled the new Tivoli. This is the model with which it is planning to acquire a slice of the sub-compact SUV segment. At this time, the segment is dominated by Nissan's Juke.

The smallest member of the Ssangyong SUV family was anticipated by a series of official images since the end of December. As expected, Tivoli takes some of the general features of the XIV Air and XIV Adventure concepts, presented for the first time in autumn last year, at the Paris Motor Show.

In order to be a model for young customers who have not forgotten the practical side, Tivoli comes with large wheel passages, headlights with LED lights integrated into front along with aggressive spoilers and plastic protection.

Under the hood, the Tivoli, enjoy a fresh engine developed by Ssangyong: a 1.6-liter e-XGI, ready to deliver 126 horsepower and 157 Nm of torque. Associated to an automatic transmission or a manual one, the new Tivoli promises an average consumption of 8.1 liters per 100 km on the South Korean market. Combined fuel economy is 12.0 km / l for the A/T version and 12.3 km / l for the M/T variant. This figure could be improved when launched on the European market, scheduled beyond the middle of this year.

The Ssangyong Tivoli uses high-strength steel (HSS) for 71.4 percent of its body, and ultrahigh-strength steel (UHSS) for the rest resulting in a highly rigid body, making it unique in the segment.

Ten major areas use ultrahigh strength materials to improve the safety of passengers. Therefore, the possibility of the car's body being deformed is minimized in a crash, seeing that the materials are two times stronger (1500 Mpa) than the usual UHSS (600 Mpa).

To get the new SUV a period of 4 years was necessary. The model is 4,195 mm long, 1,795 mm wide, 1,590 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm.
"The Tivoli marks a significant new milestone in the growing partnership between Mahindra and Ssangyong. This new SUV epitomizes the spirit of ‘Korea Can Do' and reflects Ssangyong's rich legacy of innovation in product development. We are confident that the Tivoli is poised to drive SsangYong's growth in the future" stated Anand Mahindra, Mahindra Group Chairman.

For the first time, SsangYong has provided a list of optional dual-tone body and roof. This was done to maximize the drivers' personal taste. It reveals an urban and dynamic look by applying colors that are different from the bodywork (black, white, silver, red) to the roof, wing mirrors, and rear spoiler.

Most importantly, it is a futuristic SUV, which uses the theme "Moving IT Space" through bar switches and extensive use of touch screens, which also analyze consumer behavior.

Ssangyong has ambitious plans for its small SUV, which it hopes to sell at least 100,000 copies worldwide, of which 40,000 units are planned for the Korean market.
