7 Future Car Technologies Or How The Internet Will Change Car Interactions
|   Monday, April 06, 2015
The automotive industry is going through a full period of fundamental changes in the way in which drivers interact with their cars.

The new world order is connectivity, a common word at the Mobile World Congress, a fair dedicated mainly to portable electronic devices. The movement is a natural one and comes in a context where people are able to connect to the internet via smart phones, tablets, laptops and even cameras and the large technology companies are turning their attention to cars.

It's just another step towards the Internet of Things concept which supposes the existence an Internet connection to any type of device. So let's take a look at what went on there.
1. MyFord Mobile: controls the electric car via smartphone.
One of the simplest examples of connectivity is offered by Ford through its new MyFord Mobile applications compatible with Ford electric cars and available on Android and iOS (iPhone) platforms. It integrates several useful features, the most interesting being Go Times, which allows you to set the application on your phone so that the car battery is fully charged at a certain day at a certain hour.
2. Nokia Smart Location: real-time information about accidents.
The latest creation of Nokia Networks, Nokia Smart Location Experiences is a service through which the drivers will have traffic information in real time: at the time of an accident on the road, the information is transmitted via antenna telecommunications operators to the Nokia servers and then supplied to other drivers who are near the accident.
3. Smart Key Audi: Audi key is an LG Watch Urban clock.
LG is one of the largest electronics manufacturers in the world and went a bit further with the idea: the new model Urbane Watch with 4G connectivity has the ability to replace the car key.
4. Samsung connects phones to Seat cars.
The division of mobile devices has initiated a partnership with Seat through an application which allows you to access some functions on the smart phone, such as opening windows or folding mirrors. In addition, the smart phone content can be shown in the car display through MirrorLink technology to ensure safer driving.
5. Maserati concept car with Qualcomm technology.

Qualcomm is known globally for chipsets integrated into the most advanced smart phones and tablets, including processors, but the US company develops multimedia systems for the automotive industry too.

At MWC 2015 Qualcomm introduced an integrated safety and entertainment system on a Maserati Quattroporte, which stands out by using the display as a side and rear mirror. The images are taken from a set of cameras placed at the sides and rear of the car.
6. AT & T Digital Life: house control from the car.

At MWC 2015 the company presented a preliminary version of the application Digital Life, integrated into Connected Drive, which allows control from the car of the smart house. With their help, you can open the door of the garage, the house lights, and turn on its heating system directly from the car.
7. Huawei CarFi: Internet connection sharing in the car.

Huawei is the largest telecom equipment manufacturer in the world. At MWC 2015, the Chinese manufacturer Huawei presented CarFi, a hotspot that can connect all passengers to 4G internet at speeds up to 150 Mbps.
