577 BHP Displacing Mercedes Benz S63 AMG Coupe 4Matic Revealed at New York
|   Thursday, April 24, 2014
Mercedes Benz has publicly showcased their S63 AMG at the New York Motor Show and this hot variant of their S Class Coupe, will be available to customers in the UK by November 2014, at a base price of £100,000. This four seated coupe replaces their current generation CL63 AMG that will prove to be a tough competition to Aston Martin's Rapide and Bentley's Continental GT.

Power comes from a 5.5 liter twin turbo charged direct fuel injected V8 engine that is capable of displacing 577 BHP at 5,500 RPM.
This engine is capable of displacing an additional 40 BHP than the outgoing CL63 AMG Coupe. Torque figures remain stable at 663 ft lb at 2,250 RPM. Power is distributed to the axle via a seven speed AMG Speed Shift automated transmission that has recently been introduced to all Mercedes Benz Coupe owners.

This vehicle is mated to an optional four wheel drive 4Matic all wheel drive transmission system. Better performance is guaranteed, as overall weight has been reduced by 65 kg on all variants. The S63 AMG weighed close to 1995 kg and was considered to be a featherweight. With the introduction of this new engine variant, we are expecting even greater performance figures.

Weight loss can be heavily attributed to the underpinnings, with standard Airmatic suspension being in place. Corner tilt function on this vehicle has received high accreditation and so has its light weight and more flexible steel spring air suspension. While the S63 AMG Coupe could accelerate from 0 – 60 MPH within 4.3 seconds, reaching a top speed of 62 MPH and returning close to 28 MPG of fuel, the Coupe 4Matic does the same in 3.9 seconds, while returning 27.4 MPG. Top speed is now limited to 155 MPH.

Mercedes Benz has also confirmed using their Magic Body Control System on the S63 AMG 4Matic, while a range of functionalities have been added for better control. Advanced body control system, including superior road surface scanner are also provided on this saloon. This vehicle is the first German made car featuring Active Tilt Control, where its body can stay stable on an inclination of up to 2.5 degrees between 19 and 112 MPH.

Major exterior modifications are yet to be made on this vehicle, although we are happy with Mercedes Benz currently has on offer. The single logo up front covers up a huge surface area on the grille, while this vehicle has been tested under a wind tunnel for maximum aerodynamics. Gloss black air intakes, showcased on the vehicle at New York, complimented its Metallic Gray exterior paint scheme well, which has been carried forward to its interior too.

Use of premium quality leather leaves a sense of refinement and class on this vehicle, which along with high quality fit and finish, leave customers with a glowing sense of pride. A Mercedes Benz is truly a reason for owner's pride and neighbor's envy. Watch this space closely for additional details, as we plan on getting back to you shortly.
