400 Compact Horses - Audi RS 3 Sportback
|   Thursday, March 23, 2017
The new Audi RS 3 Sportback aims to impose performance standards in the premium compact segment. The new model was premiered at the Geneva Motor Show.
Like the RS 3 sedan, which debuted in Paris last autumn, the RS 3 Sportback has a TFSI engine with a displacement of 2.5 l and 5 cylinders that delivers 400 hp and torque of 480 Nm (between 1700 - 5850 rpm). The Audi TFSI is the most powerful 5-cylinder engine now available for a production car. These resources make possible a sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.
seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h, but for a fee, Audi may raise the limit to 280 km / h. All these specifications and performance are equal to the sedan.

The efficiency and sportiness with which it exploits the 400 hp is due in large part to S-tronic dual-clutch with 7 speeds and quattro all-wheel drive, with multi-disc electro-hydraulic differential. Audi says that the driving force is distributed to the rear axle, faster and in a greater proportion, as the driver drives in a more sporty way.

Through the Audi drive select, the driver can manage response for all-wheel drive, steering, engine transmission, exhaust flaps system, and RS sports suspension, optionally, which has adaptive shock absorber control.
The driver can individually adjust all of these parameters by selecting one of the three driving modes available: comfort, auto and dynamic. Furthermore, the RS 3 Sportback's maneuverability is ensured by the electronic stability control system that manages torque in a special configuration for the sports car.

The list of specifications designed to enhance the dynamism does not end here. As a result, the direction is progressive, the sports suspension has a multilink architecture with 4 arms to the rear axle, so lowers the ground clearance by 25 mm compared to a normal A3, the front gauge is widened by 20 mm (leading and flaring front fenders) and standard brake discs have a diameter of 310 mm. Optionally, for the front axle brake discs made of a mix of carbon fiber and ceramics can be chosen.

In the cockpit, the sports experience is given not only sports seats with Nappa leather upholstery, or for specific RS steering wheel, but includes the avant-garde digital displays. The instrument panel displays turbocharger pressure, oil temperature and recorded times.
If opting for Virtual Cockpit (fully digital instrumentation board), it benefits from RS display mode. It displays in the central place the velocity and revolutions, and G forces are displayed laterally, as well as tire pressure and torque. Also, when the transmission operates in manual mode, an indicator shows the driver when to use the paddles behind the steering wheel or lever gearbox to change gears when maximum revs are reched.

Other "goodies" include Apple Car Play, Android Auto, a smartphone induction charging system, an audio system Bang & Olufsen with an output of 705 watts and LTE module, which provides domestic connectivity, including Internet, Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation with Google Earth and Google Street View.

Audi will receive orders from Europe for the Audi RS 3 Sportback models and Sedan from April 2017 at prices starting from 54,600 or 55,900 euros.
