24h Le Mans Preview: Nissan Returns To Competition And Audi Favorite To Win
|   Wednesday, July 01, 2015
Audi is considered the favorite in the 24-hour race to the detriment of rivals from Toyota and Porsche, while Nissan hopes to make a nice impression when it returns to LMP1 Prototype class.

The 24 hours of Le Mans race is considered the most important in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). This is the third race in the calendar list, after the 6 hours race at Silverstone, and 6 hour race at Spa-Francorchamps.

Of the 34 cars registered not only at Le Mans but also for the entire Endurance Championship ,11 cars will be honored with the greatest attention, once they are entered in the LM P1 top category.
The four participating companies, Audi, Porsche, Nissan and Toyota have made maximum effort to be ready to overcome their rivals.
But why highlight only 11 racing cars when every each team has the right to participate with 3 cars? Because Toyota was limited to only two fireballs, which however does not mean we cannot talk about them as fierce rivals.

The LM P2 category does not remains in the shadows either. It has registered 19 cars ready to fight for the top positions even in case the LMP1 prototypes will have technical flaws and fail to maintain the leading positions.

Those who wish to see street supercars in action can watch the LM GTE Pro category, with teams such as Aston Martin, Porsche, Ferrari, Corvette and many others registered in the struggle for victory in their category.

The Endurance World Championship has grown significantly in popularity in recent years along with the slight setback on Formula 1 crossing it. Major contributions in this direction came with Porsche returning last year in the competition and the return this year by Nissan.

The crown jewel remains the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which will take place over the weekend June 13 to 14 and enjoys a special prestige through the unique challenge they pose: victory can be achieved only after pilots, mechanics, engineers and technical management have been sweating for 24 hours, whether it is day or night, clear or storm and whatever their degree of accumulated fatigue is.

At first glance, this year seems to be well balanced between the four manufacturers that compete in the LMP1 Prototype class, especially as a result of victories scored by Audi in the first two rounds of the season, and the problems that those from Nissan had with prototype development. However, history has shown that anything can happen over the 24 hours race, which is why Porsche and Toyota remain confident in their chances to win the trophy.

Audi and Porsche have made significant progress compared to last year, which is why the Japanese manufacturer had a rather mediocre performance at Silverstone, while at the Spa it simply was not in shape. Seeing that on a dry track, they weren't able to fight with the two German manufacturers, Toyota's hopes specifically lie with the weather and technical malfunctions for Audi and Porsche.

24 Hours of Le Mans start Saturday, June 13th at 16:00 and end on Sunday, June 14th at 16:00.
