2018 McLaren 720S Spied Is Finally Revealed - On Instagram!
|   Friday, February 10, 2017
Surprisingly enough for the whole world, the new 2018 McLaren 720S was revealed a long time before it was planned, at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. A photo showing the model in all its glory was recently posted.. on Instagram! At least there's one thing we now know for sure: the new model is sparkling in every possible way.

However, let's have a closer look at the photo. This was taken during a preview of the vehicle by a bunch of journalists with their phones.
Unless the unwritten laws of car events have changed in the mean time, we know for a fact that auto journalists are not allowed under any circumstances to take photos of a car that hasn't been revealed to the public yet.

To be honest, the lights and shadows created by the angle from which the photo was taken are not revealing the real beauty of the vehicle. Even so, the 2018 McLaren 720S Spied is shining. This version of the second-generation Super Series model is painted using the Volcano Orange shades. As we know, this colour is an optional extra feature of the 650S, the older relative of the 720S. Apparently, the brake calipers are also finished in the same bright orange shade.

The shape of the headlights and the more curvaceous roofline represent the beginning of a new era for the McLaren series, one with more of a futuristic design for its models. In other news, so far the producers confirmed a three-seater hyper-grand tourer, which has the internal codename of BP23. As for those two vents from the door structure (which aren't very visible in this photo), they're the ultimate proof that McLaren is paying much more attention to aerodynamics than before.

A former teaser of the 720S (an official one, this time), showed us that the rear wing of the vehicle can act as an air brake in cases of hard cornering. Furthermore, the mass of this beauty is 18 kilograms less than the 650S, which means that its total weight will be of 1,283 kilograms (2,828 pounds).

While we have no clue regarding the engine, it's highly likely that the Super Series may use the 3/8-litre twin-turbo V8 for a 4.0-litre engine. Either way, this was definitely an Instagram sensation.
